Hello Everyone!
Just wondering if anyone is familiar with Cryotherapy?
Thanks

Ice, icy gel, etc. covers a pretty broad range, what are you wanting to know?
Liquid Nitrogen used to dry acne, clear warts, and precancerous lesions :)
Are esty's allowed to use it? A derm used it on me to remove moles on my back-asked her if she ever played with it and she told me she took it to her son's school and made ice cream!
That would be the form of dry ice. Our State Regulations state that Cryotherapy are physicians use only - would check with your State Regulations. Have not heard of an Esthetician using this without Medical Supervision. Without proper use lesions could be treated with Cry-Ac that could potentially be cancerous and therefore removed by a physician. Liquid Nitrogen could also create severe burns if not handled properly.
No, derm used Liq. Nit. I've used dry ice, I'm familiar with it, not work related use.
I would not think we could use it, unless under MD supervision. I certainly wasn't going to, just surprised to see it on here.
- yes, me too :)
Yes, the Med-Spa would be qualified to preform this type of service although it would have to be under the direction of a Physician. As a Medical Esthetician at a Dermatologist office we were able to use the Liquid Nitrogen (spray form)for Acneic skin conditions. Hmm, hyper pigmentation I am unsure of although could cause hypo pigmentation if overused. Hope this is helpful :) Bests
If it's just listed as Cryotherapy, it could be an ice massage, ice water bath, ice gel, used frequently to reduce edema & inflammation-possibly to reduce the potential for hyperpigmentation. not sure what it would do if one already has it.
An 'Ice Globe Facial' would also address the issues listed by Deborah aside from the hyperpigmentation :) Ultra soothing and fantastic following a peel !
It will NOT reduce any hyperpigmentation but i may help with inflammation and the healing process.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
