I just wondered if any of you had the opportunity to attend the IECSC conference this past weekend in Las Vegas? If so, how did you like new layout and location in the convention center? What was your favorite workshop?

I felt the energy there this year was very flat.  The location and new layout was not appealing.   I heard that they put on more security on Sunday because on Saturday lots of people were lost, staff at the cc didn't know their stuff, so the security on Sunday were asking people if they needed help, escorting them to the classroom areas etc.   When i first got there i asked where the classrooms were.  The staff directed me into the totally wrong direction!   Sunday was better....but the majority of the people i networked with (as i attended a vendor cocktail party on Saturday) felt the show was quite poor for them this year.   Overall though i made some amazing connections and did a good class with Universal.  So i am happy....was just frustrated with it on Saturday.  This wasn't intended as a whiney post...just an observation.

No, your feedback is honest. And, actually, if the IECSC organizers are reading this, it could help them to improve these problem areas next year. I do think that the flow at the South Hall wasn't quite as easy to navigate as the North Hall, so I hope to see the show back there next year. The classrooms were also a pretty long walk, but at least I got some exercise in!

Well I did take two classes I liked The Global Skin Class by Pamela Springer was excellent, and the Peels class by Ellen from Control Correctives makes me want to take her classes in Irvine.  Overall tho, my impression is less than favorable.  I did like the wide aisles, but there were still those who were allowed to bring in their rolling carts, which is a big beef I have.  Security should have made them check their bags just like the REST of us had to do.  The classrooms SUCKED!  I know I should be more diplomatic, but generally I use words with impact, and "sucked" is entirely appropos in this instance.  The manufacturers classes were divided by what looked like cardboard walls that were open at the top.  Can you imagine trying to teach a class next to the Eminence guy (Boldijare) for crying out loud?!  I did not like the South Halls part of the convention center.  I did have a great time with new and used friends (LOL!!)!  Probably won't be back for a year or two at least.

I agree that the manufacturers' classroom set up made it really hard to concentrate if you were next to a room with a "robust" presenter (I'm not saying loud, just enthusiastic :-) I guess there aren't enough enclosed classrooms to accommodate all the presenters in the South Hall? I don't seem to remember this being a problem in the North Hall. Glad to hear you liked Pamela Springer's class. She previously gave a webinar for ASCP on the same topic and it was great!

This was my first time attending the show. I really went for the Image skincare class because I needed training on it. I loved the Image class and the PCA class I took. I could definitely hear other classes going on but the worst part were the microphones that didn't work. It was so bad in the PCA class where she kept coming in and out. I went on Saturday and was very lost trying to find the classrooms. I asked 4 staff members and got different answers from all of them l. I finally heard a lady who was looking for the same classrooms and followed her. I didn't like how they offered alot of classes at the same time. There were a few I would have liked to take but they were all from 9am to 11am. I wish the classes would go all day and not be overlapping. I really didn't have money to buy which now I see is the main reason for going since I couldn't get that many classes in. I think next year will be better because I know what to expect. Image offered an extra 15% off which I think is amazing and will stock up on my inventory next year.

It was definitely less energetic but I benefited greatly from it and I am really glad I went. I attended 6 classes (JB Lashes, Circadia (2), DermaWare, M'Lis, Eva's Esthetics) and learned so much. They also had a lot of great deals on things I needed and wanted to buy. I didn't have any problems finding the classrooms but I do agree that "cardboard" walls were not a good idea. I took the lash extension class but they didn't bring a camera/projector so it was difficult to really see what was happening. The class was full but not everyone could see so people started to leave.

Sounds like you packed in some great education! Good for you. And, yes, they did have some great deals being offered in the exhibit hall. It's always a good feeling to save money ... actually can justify the trip if you have some major purchases to make.

This was the first time I attended and I was disappointed but I thought maybe my expectations were to high.  I did enjoy the class I took from the wax queen but it was hard to hear because of the open ceiling we we're next to a very loud class with loud music and I found it very annoying!  The whole show  kind of reminded me of the swap meet/flea market with some of the vendors that were their selling products that were not professional products I mean I had to give my license info to purchase my ticket and it seemed like they just let anyone set up a booth.

HI Sharon!

Glad to hear you enjoyed Michael Pugliese's class. He always gets great reviews! Yes, it was a long walk in the heat! I brought flip-flops to wear for the walk, and changed into heels once I got behind the ASCP booth! I'm sure the IECSC organizers heard many similar comments and that they also hope to be back in the North Hall next year!

This was my first trade show so I can't compare it to any other. I really enjoyed speaking with the venders especially all those at HydroPeptide, Bio Jouvance, Ilike and Eva's Esthetics. The Waxing Queen was very giving with her knowledge she offered me all I needed to know about brow waxing right on the spot. I sought out "The Esthetician's Mentor" (Lori Crete) and found her at a micro currant booth, she was very informative and helpful. I took a lot of classes but the 2 with Bio Jouvance I liked the most. The classes were always an issue to find but I always got decent directions from the staff there. I wish I could have had more time though, there was NO WAY I could visit all the booths and I wish I could have taken more classes. I plan on going to Miami Beach for my next trade show since my parents live in Florida and it is also one of the best shows to go to.

Wow, you packed a lot in! I also know both Lori Crete and "the wax queen", Lori Nestore, and you are right about each one of them being a great resource and very helpful.

I sure did, and yet I couldn't help but wish I still had more time, lol. I got 2 training dvds from Lori Nestore and after I got home I purchased http://www.theestheticianmentor.com/six-figure-esthetician-system/ and read all 10 chapters the day I got it! It was very informative, I still need to view the dvds and fill out the worksheets. I am waiting on opening the spa before I fill out the worksheets so that I can do so honestly. I also purchased all but 2 of the books Lori recomended on my Kindle. One of the books I didn't get was "The Secret" which I already saw the film so I don't feel the need to read it as well. The other book she mentioned I didn't get was not available on Kindle so I figured I will wait on that, I have plenty of reading to do for now.
