Do you use social media for marketing? What questions do you have about it?

Hi all! For those of you that don't know, I'm the Social Media Coordinator at ASCP, and I'll be presenting a free webinar on July 8th at 12PM Mountain called "Succeeding With Social Media."

As I'm putting things together, I figured I'd reach out to the community and see what struggles you all have had with social media marketing. I plan to tackle higher-level strategies (not just, "How do you set up a Facebook page?", since you can get that anywhere), so what questions do you have about marketing with social media like Facebook, Twitter, etc.?

My main issue is how to get more followers!  I have a Facebook page, a Twitter account and a blog for my skin care.  I tried 'share' contests, and only a few people do this.  I simply want to increase my social media following to get my name and content out there!  Thanks!

I've done giveaway/share promos too.

I still have the same number of "likes" as I did LAST year.

I've tried to "engage" my followers in different ways but frankly I am just tired of trying to use FB as marketing.

Right now - I am just using it like a billboard...posting any specials that I have going or doing a product spotlight. It's pretty boring really

I agree, just getting clients to interact and to get more likes and more business from things like facebook.  I have tried posting different times, I don't always post about specials, will post a tip and then maybe a random thought or share something I like.  People will like it but when asking questions or trying to get a conversation going it seems like pulling teeth.  Also getting people to give reviews after they loved their service.  Some will but getting them to put the reviews in the right places like google or yelp.

I am teamed up with a massage therapist so we get clients from eachother, word of mouth referrals, donate gift certificates to various events and charities, and we have one add running in a local magazine that we will be splitting.  I am also with Spa50 and Spafinder

I think being able to schedule online ( post an opening or special to your fb- twitter etc. Give $5 off or free sample for facebook or foursquare checkins. Of course having good information and content helps. Even a paid Facebook ad is worth a try. Def network and donate ( I need to need work more). Having pictures, videos and engaging for feedback. Ask questions- post client reviews- link website.
