I really hope someone can help me with this question. Are there any states where you can have your Esthetics license in both or is it true for every state that you can only be licensed in one? Does that make sense?

How is possible for "celebrity" estheticians to do facials in different states? I have read that in some states if you don't charge for a facial then you can get away with doing it but how does it work if you are charging? I was on a specific site and this Esthetician travels all over and you can book a facial with her if you want.

I have an opportunity to do some work in another state (Florida) and possible others but I'm not sure how this will work.

Thank you! :)

Hi Devyn,

I am licensed in both California and Colorado, and I don't believe there is any problem having your license in multiple states. Perhaps that might be true for a driver's license, but I don't think it applies to a professional license. If you have ASCP, your insurance will follow you to any state or multiple states as long as you properly licensed. Pretty cool, huh!

Oh really? I was told that you couldn't have it in multiple states. Oh my gosh. That is going to make my life so much easier! Thank you!! :)

I do have ASCP insurance as well. I've been trying to figure out how to figure out if my hours transfer. Every state has their own lingo so it's confusing. Do you know where I can look to get general information? I want to get my 2nd one in Florida and they only require 260 hours vs Ca at 600 but I'm not sure if they transfer.

The trouble you still may run into is reciprocity.  I'd contact the state boards where you wish to be licensed and ask those questions.

You can hold as many licenses as you wish.  Can be expensive keeping up with renewals and Cont Ed, and changing regulations everywhere.

Also, many "celebrity estheticians" don't follow the regulations. Either ignorance or arrogance, not sure which.

We have had a couple contact us to rent a room in one of our NYC spas, and when we asked for her NY License all communication ceased.

I am now applying for FL license. As long as you take the special classes and keep up with CE , etc . You can be licensed in many states. Well at least 3 I know of- should not be a problem!!
