I have a client asking about natural remedies for Eczema and Psoriasis.  I do not have personal experience so I was hoping some of you would like to help me out.  If you have had experience with this, what has worked for you?

Also, my nephew gets one or the other on his head...not sure which.  It's like a white scabby patch that seems to be spreading.  Any suggestions for that?  My sister was using olive oil but I a not sure that is working.

As usual, thanks so much!!

My son used to get Eczema when he was a baby up until he was 7 when we moved to the States.  It cleared up when we moved to Ca.  Think it was due to the climate.  We tried 'everything' and I mean 'everything' from olive oil to goose grease, to flowers picked by a hippy and blessed by Buddha, to cocunut oil that was from Malaysia and not Hawaii!  I was exhausted.   So we then changed his diet constantly.  This improved...but it's hard to really control and cut out dairy etc when its a child.    Climate, diet and hereditary all play a big part in it.  I get Eczema flares on my scalp when I am stressed, but goes away once I start sitting like Buddha and begin meditating!    I wish I could be more help in answer to your question...but after 7 years of trying all sorts of weird concoctions it all cleared up when we moved to a warm, dry climate.  Was it a coincidence?   Who knows.     As for the white scabby patch that is spreading.  That sounds like Psoriasis.   My older brother has Psoriasis!  We are like the family that is falling apart!   If we were horses, they would shoot us!  hahhaha

How old is your nephew? If he's a baby it might be cradle cap (infantile seborrhoeic dermatitis). http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001959/

Thanks ladies! Claire you are so funny!! My nephew is 4 but I am thinking he has had since younger age.  He has some digestion issues which I beleive are dairy related but noone seems to want to listen :).

Ah I feel bad for him because I have been there and it's hard to see them suffer when it cracks and bleeds and itches.  It does sound like diary.  My son as a tiny baby had very bad digestion problems.  He grew out of it but I do think Eczema and dairy intolerance are related.  :(

I dont recommend  this for a 4 year old ,but for older clients I have heard that the tanning beds help calm to calm it. Some go to the tanning bed once a week , or some go  once a month depending on how bad u have it. The heat is suppose to prevent a flair and help it if it has come out. Its best if they go in a "stand up " tanning bed . All they need is 10 min. Just somthing you may suggest to them. :)
