Hello Everyone!

I was wondering for anyone who uses an eye pillow on their clients during facial treatments, which kind do you use and how do you disinfect it?

Thanks in advance!

Erica,

I'm glad you asked this. I am a new esthetician but will add what I can...In school we used butterfly eye masks made from wet cotton. I have also tried tanning goggles on my clients but feedback is they're not as comfortable. I am in search of individual eye pads that will not move when I turn their head during analysis and allow for greatest visibilty of the face. If anyone has a suggestion I'd love to hear about it!

I don't use eye pillows during facial treatments - it's too tricky to keep them clean.

I'm just using dampened cotton rounds right now.

For massage though, I used to place a folded washcloth over the eyes and put the eye pillow over that.

Unless I can find a good price on eye pillows that come with washable covers I doubt I will do even this.

I use chamomile tea bags. Celestial Seasonings have the stringless pouches. You can make them warm or cool.
Gina, Love the idea, will give it a try!

A folded tissue under the eye pillow works as well.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a spa treatment. An eye pillow with a removable cover that you can wash. Anyone use one like this in their facial treatments?

well... I imagine you can find washable covers for eye pillows.... The Massage Warehouse might have something along that line. Or you could always make some out of a microfiber material or something if you're feeling especially innovative! hehe just something to slip the pillow inside of. You might find an aromatic eye pillow at a health food store- with aromatherapy herbs or something inside.

It would be nice for during a body treatment or such- to really block the light and help them relax.

update: The Massage Warehouse DOES sell a variety of eye pillows AND covers!! Just got a catalog in the mail!!
