I need some help assisting this client who suffers from facial ingrown hair.  I see him on a weekly basis for over a year now. He picks the hair slashing open his skin which hardens up in response to the trauma, creating inflammation which makes it harder for the hair to come out. It's a chronic cycle. I have been using an enzyme peel with steam to exfoliate the skin followed by a kaolin hydrating mask which seems to help calming down the inflammation on the skin (all from Jurlique). He has been to several Dermatologists and even to a Wound Specialist but nobody seemed to help. Does anybody recommends a treatment or a professional in Miami who could take this guy out of this misery?

yikes he picks and slahes it ! I use something called tend skin, and it works wonders. It does sting, I wouldnt reccomend putiing it on open skin . hope this help, good luck to you

Is it just one spot or all over? Does he have any other skin issues?  What does he use to shave?

what did dermatologist and wound specialists say?

Also did he ever try going to get a professional shave? Curious to know if he would still get the ingrowns

Cynthia, he used so many products but never tried Tend Skin. I'll keep that in mind but will edit until the inflammation ceases. Esty, this has been going on for almost two years. It started on a little spot on the chin but now it's taken most of the left cheek ( where there's hair of course). He uses the Art of Shaving products and at one point it did got better by going to a barber. One of the dermatologists prescribed antibiotics( it helped but it came back), the other acutane ( he didn't take it), he did a byopsy and the result was the proper name for ingrown hair ( I forgot ). The wound specialist just helped picking the hair out. All of them (including myself), asked for him to stop picking but he can't. He got obsessed about it. One of the drs even prescribed an anti depressant calm his nerves down but it only made him more frustrated. He never took it. In my opinion he needs a paramedic facialist. Somebody with experience in trauma that could treat the skin to decrease inflammation. I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks
