Hi,

I just bought a 2 in 1 Galvanic & high frequency machine. Originally I just wanted the high frequency for my acne clients, but since this choice was just a little bit more expensive, I decided to buy both. Now, I really have a hard time to find disincrustation products to use for the negative pole. What do you all use? Do you like to use galvanic at all? Is that really effective for easing the extraction?

Cool that you have a new piece of equipment to try out!!

You know, I went to an Aveda school and hence was not taught galvanic hands-on (just a short Milady equipment section in theory class), but despite adopting lots of technology once licensed (<3 high frequency!), I have never felt good about using galvanic desincrustation because it requires applying an alkaline substance, which from my understanding, harms the acid mantle and barrier function of the skin.

BUT since you have it, try it!  Mark Lees and Christine Valmy each make traditional alkaline desincrustation solutions.  Please let us know!

Baking soda and water. Work great!

When I started this second time around, I needed help in this department too and another esty posted about it and it has helped TREMENDOUSLY!!!! It is only part of my 90 min service.  Here is what I do:

Cleanse, Cleanse, Steam, Baking soda, Glavanic Negative pole, extractions if needed, hot towel, massage using a serum, THEN (and this was genius in my mind) I use a serum, A GAUZE MASK, and CONDUCTIVE GEL and use the positive pole for several minutes, then mask, then tone, moisturize etc.

It is WONDERFUL for extractions and if I have somebody with really congested skin, I use it even if they don't have a 90 min slot.  It's a lot less painful.

At the upcoming Midwest Beauty Show, I am hoping to find a good disencrustation fluid, but otherwise, I use the baking soda.

I also recommending grabbing a friend or two and giving them a treatment to get comfortable with it.  It does take some practice. :D
