What is your method of waxing? Are you applying all the wax first then taking it off with pellon, or are you doing sections or strips? What kind of wax are you using?

Is there a special wax you can use to apply all at one time? I never heard of that method.

Most soft waxes do not dry but can get very tacky, so that is what you need to look out for. I currently use Berodin's Ease Soft Wax and Satin Smooth Non-Wax beBare Hair Removal System which work great. "Speed Waxing" as it is called is basically what I mentioned earlier, you deposit all the wax first. If you are doing the legs, then lets say you would start with just the upper side apply wax first to the top of the upper leg and then go in with pellon...repeat same the other side and under and then work your way up. I highly recommend any instructional DVD's by Lori Nestore "The Waxing Queen" she is amazingly talented and quite funny! You can also look her up on youtube as well. http://www.evasesthetics.com/index.html Hope that helps! And like Jennifer said practice, practice, practice!!!

Ooh, thank you for posting this!  Very helpful!

I think Joshua probably means in sections, like doing the front of the lower right leg with wax and then removing and then moving to the front of the lower left leg.  This is far quicker than applying a little wax and then removing it and then applying another little strip and then removing that strip.  And if you get really quick at applying, some waxers can even do the front of both lower legs and then remove it.

Watching lots of videos to learn techniques helped me, there are a lot on youtube.  I think the rest is just practice.

Here is a link to my waxing video playlist on youtube

Practice, practice, Practice - on yourself, on your friends, on your family - anyone who will let you.  Also, if you are near an International Dermal Institute, they offer a Speed Waxing class which is pretty awesome.  But the more you practice, the more you get a routine down.  Also, if you are really slow and are worried about losing your job, ask another esthetician if you can pay them to give you one on one lessons or ask an esthetician friend to help you with your technique for free.  Lots of little things can slow you down from how your trolley is set up to whether you have pre-cut strips, to how hot your wax is, to how you scrape your spatula to how you apply it, do you have a pattern, to you use too many strips, are you waxing over areas more than once.  Consider reaching out to an esthetician in your area to tutor you and correct any bad habits you may have.  It helps!  A lot!

"Speed Waxing"! Joshua is right, Lori Nestore has some great videos and is rather entertaining to watch.

It is so important to have fast, confident pulls. it makes such a difference. Combine that with speed waxing and you will be good to go in no time :) good luck

Also Kellie, it sounds like you either have a Dermalogica account where you work or are near and IDI, take the Speed Waxing class.  They teach you a clever technique which gets rid of having to twirl the spatula and it allows you to use a lot less wax which your employers will love.  You'll be a pro in no time!

I use roller wax, Satin Smooth zinc oxide. It goes on really well and is awesome for speed waxing.  Practice helps as well as developing a technique that works best for you helps. Videos....but really practice. Once you get a system down it can take you about 15-20 minutes to do a full leg wax.

Oh I wish I could help you!!  I am a waxing educator in S Cal.  Colorado is a bit far for me to come help you!  Yes, 2 hours is quite a long time!  Myself and crickett do have a full body waxing DVD coming out very, very soon where we are here to help all of you in these tricky areas!!  I understand in the U.S you don't 'always' get a great training in Beauty School, hence the reason the DVD was put together.    look here   It is best to coat the hair/leg/skin in soft wax in big areas then remove quickly, keeping the skin taut, parallel with removal etc, etc.  If you ever need advice over the phone please email me (I don't charge for phone calls!!!)   claire@twigsandberriesbook.com    But this forum on here and all it's wonderful Estheticians are here to help you if you need it also!!
