A couple of weeks ago my husband and I went to a local restaurant and at the end of our meal the waitress handed us a sealed document and told us not to open it. She said if we came back before the expiration date (it was only two weeks away) the manager would open it in front of us to see what we got. She told us there was the possibility of an Italy vacation and also $100,000.

 

Having this little document encouraged us to return before two weeks. There's something about the intrigue of possibly getting something big. We really like this resaurant and would of returned eventually anyway but probably not in less than two weeks. You guys get where I'm going here???

 

So. I've made up little documents with facials for10%, 20% and 50% off and also a free facial. There is also a few 20% off of products and free treatment extras. Most of them are for 10% off though and only one free facial in the bunch.

 

Here's what I'm offering...when a client purchases a gift certificate this holiday season, she gets to pick out one of these sealed documents to use in January. She must come back for her treatment in January with the document sealed in order to redeem it.

 

Oh yeah...we got 10% off of our meal that day! I was sure hoping for that Italy trip!

We booked 8 of these specials yesterday!! Eight in one day you guys!! Four of those were clients that we had not seen in awhile....so it was intriguing enough to get them back in.

Shelly- How is she picking out the sealed document? Are they all in a big jar and she puts her hand it to pick? I really like this idea!

Hello Shelley, what a phenomenal idea! But I just read it and we already sold most of out gift certificates and we sold lots of them online. I do have their email addresses so I can send them a special offer. But a lot of gift certificates were bought by new clients and most of people got massages not facials. So my question is what is the best strategy to keep bringing more money in with all clients redeeming their gift certificates and how to encourage them to book facials not just massages/

Hmmmmm.......let's think this out! Could you give these new clients coming in with the massage gift certificates a facial teaser during their massage. Let them know that you want them to get a taste of the great facials you offer so as a bonus you're adding a special treat to their massage. Make it something simple and quick yet effective. How about a quick cleanse and a great smelling enzyme or mask while their on their backs. At check out let them know if they like what you did and they book for a facial right now , you'd love to offer them....fill in the blank, a slight discount, a free upgrade, a free brow wax with their facial.....get creative with your offer. I'll keep thinking and let you now if I come up with any other ideas!!

Thank you for another brilliant idea! Ill do a quick cleanse and mask and will offer them upgrade from regular facial to the one with eye treatment or 15% off, Ill see what works better and will let you know.
