I love to make my own Scrubs- to Sell you have to go through all the legal aspects- list ingredients and each state is different as far as sales and if you can make in kitchen or have to rent a space
if you have the passion, time.. - I say do it!
What kind of salts do you use??
Hi Muriel,
I have traditionally always worked in a regular spa. I am moving out-of-state, and I have the perfect room at new house for a small spa. Can you give me some tips and advice on how you got started? I don't know many people since I am new, however, I can do the treatments for a fraction of the cost of a spa. And most likely I will do it by donation. Any ideas? Tips? Anything that has worked, or anything that has been a problem I would love to hear. Thank you so much.
The "by donation" idea was mentioned in another post and sounds very risky to me. If there were a problem, insurance may not be able to cover you since you were working around having the proper permits. In fact, your home owner's insurance might try to wiggle out of covering a slip and fall if you were doing business illegally. Mistakes and adverse reactions do happen and lawsuits scare me, so I would not invest in equipment and everything else unless I knew I could receive the right permit that would allow my insurance company to have my baack. This might mean adding an outside door, etc. depending on the state. I have never owned a home, but if I did I sure wouldn't risk losing it in a lawsuit. Another problem with starting home based in a new town is marketing. This is compounded if you are working out of your home illegally since you can't put up a sign and it would be risky to offer too much info on your website. I'm considering moving cities in the next couple years and while I would love to someday have a home based practice, I anticipate needing to rent at a salon or spa for a couple years first to build a client and referral base.
