I'm in school currently and I love skin care, and Im familiar with a lot of the skin care lines.. but I know their are TONS. How did you pick your skin care lines besides what is offered at your salon? Was it just trial and error?
I know entering a salon you don't have much control over what lines they carry, but Im curious on how you found the lines you like? Im not a fan of BioElements and Image.. I know A LOT of salons carry them, but I want something more aggressive..

I did not have one and buy from them regularly.
there are a lot of choices and it can be overwhelming. Another thing to take into consideration in your clientele. Are they high end or more modest spenders? If you want to present exclusivity you may have to opt for a more upscale line, something they can't get just anywhere. Also what is important to you? What do you mostly want to focus on? what is the majority of your client demographic? Baby boomers who want anti aging, or people with acne concerns? I was certain I wanted a line with science behind it with the latest advances and active ingredients because most of my clients are concerned with aging. I knew that would eliminate many "natural" "organic" and low end lines. I always tell clients that when it comes to skincare you get what you pay for. Get an idea of a price point clients are willing to invest into they're skin health. I also agree with whoever said take into account the number of products, and be wary of aggression. We all have our "hero" products that we keep stocked and others that we just special order if someone wants. Hope this helps.
I chose mine basically by researching the lines mentioned on this forum. I've used Bioelements, Dermalogica, and Hylunia in the past, and I now use Skin Script. It has low minimums and the products are really good. I still will use some products from Bioelements, because I can buy them from my local state supply, but mostly I use Skin Script. Hope this helps! :)
My clients love SS and I do too! I just make sure to leave the peels on only 3 minutes when applying for the first time. Second facial, I leave it longer. 1 or 2 more minutes. I fan A LOT, and if a client feels discomfort in one random spot I remove with wet q-tips and leave the rest. I just make sure they communicate with me the whole time to avoid any booboos.
I too have this same question. In school we used "Control" skincare line. I have baby boomer clientele with fine lines issues. Most have combination skin and with winter skin a lot have sensitivity to products. Any suggestions? I'm also looking into facial machines that get the most positive results. I have a shop in a very small town, mostly retires and farming community. I list my facials at $35.00 and the client's feel that is too much money. I know that it is not but I need to meet their needs and still make a profit any suggestions? I have many requests for body wraps so I purchased a botanical seaweed wrap solution any product preferences?
Tammy- Call Botanical Science, their price points are great and I have found them to be lovely!
also, I bought a cheapy LED to TRY and I LOVE it! It has done amazing stuff for my skin!
I too live in a rural, Indiana community with farmers and retirees. I charge a decent price and give specials with buy so many get one...etc. Prices are what people will pay. I agree but don't sell yourself too short!
:D
Allergies are my big thing. Gotta watch gluten, nuts, and dairy!
I personally wanted something natural, effective, economical, and a line that it's hard to find at a store (online or brick). So I picked Skin Scripts.
We Love Le Mieux! They have really great products. They are affordable.
I'm SO glad I found them!
I'm the owner of a skin care business and found them from doing research.
They only have a first order of only $300 and you can't find their products online
cheaper than what they are priced at from them.
So people can't go to Ulta or Amazon and get them any cheaper than from you.
They have great serums, their eye corrector product is really great too.
We use a peel they have before our procedure - that you leave on and it's incredible.
We specialize in microcurrent and use their gel as a conductor - it's wonderful.
With every order Tammy always sends me samples.
She is a total sweetie and such a pleasure doing business with her!
If you speak with her tell her Carole Sent you...I love that lady!
Here's her direct line (This is the way I always order - I call Tammy)
626-214-1324. I always get my orders quickly (From California)
