hello, my name is brittany, and this is my fisrt post. im looking for some help to build my esthetics clients with little to no money for advertising. i work for a wellness facility doing massage, anti cellulite body wraps and esthetics, but i am having little success actually getting people scheduled. i use glo therapeutics and love the porducts, my prices are very reasonable for our location. any tips i would greately appriciate! thanks so much .

If you have limited money for advertising, but can spare some time and effort, social media could potentially be a great way to get the word out about your services! It's similar to the standard word-of-mouth referral, but will extend your reach a little farther through the online networks. First figure out where your clients are at online (e.g. will you be most effective on Facebook? Twitter? LinkedIn?) and then start building your marketing strategy and posting great content. If you google "social media marketing" there's tons of info out there on how to get started. Best of luck to you!

Does the facility you work in have its own advertising, and do they promote your services as part of whatever other information they put out in public?

thye do have their own advertising but they dont spend any money on massage or esthetics. budget has become pretty tight.. we have tried groupon, livingsocial, dealsaver ect but those people dont come back unless its a good deal.

we have started doing social media on our facebook but im kindive stuck on that too

 

I am in the same boat myself and trying to build my clientele has been really tough.  Word of mouth is great of course but I would recommend joining a networking group in your area and start going to at least 2 networking or event type functions a week and build relationships that way.  You may not get business from these women specifically but they will think of you when it comes time to refer someone.  Also, i hate to say it but you should try to offer some free services of some type to get people in.  I have done this and it has been a 50/50 of re bookings.  Some people just don't want to spend the money right now unfor4tuantely.  I am also going to put together a little 5z7 flyer type thing for different places, hair salons, nail salons, travel parks, etc that says, mention this and get x amount off facial treatment or something like that.  Restaurants that allow you to put cards is another great way.  As I am saying this, I need to do all of these things myself.  I have been networking a lot, but get  burnt out quickly  Try different groups.  Good luck and keep us posted with what works.  I agree with the social media aspect too!!

Sheila, how do you find the networking groups in your area? 

Just research networking groups or check facebook to see if anyone else belongs to any.  We have a couple of large ones (IN Tampa bay area).  Also you can maybe google search events or meetups in your area. 

Meetup.com is a great way to find groups of people with simular interests....networking, GNO, etc...

Do they do a monthly newletter to their clients?

How big is the client list? 

This was a great way for me to quickly build my business.

If they don't have anything...Constant Contact offers a 30-day free trial and their have lots of services besides just a newsletter.  Get the owners on that if they aren't taking advantage of email marketing yet. If they try it I bet that they will get excited about it.

I try to have a monthly special and send it out in the newsletter, post it on my website and facebook page and put signs up in the center. I also post my specials on the wellness center's FB page.

this is something I need to be more proactive about, emails!  Great idea Cindy!!


Starting your own business can be so overwhelming, do you have any advice for Brittany and I as to how to A)stay sane :) B) Stay on tiop of everything as far as the emailing, following up, creating specials, getting out there, etc? 

Spa parties!!!

Being an esthetician in this economy is quite challenging. what i have found to be helpful in getting your name out there, is getting out of the treatment room. I have used spa parties as a great way to build my clientele (you do 30 min facials and hand scrubs for a small fee of ($20-35) pay in advance and when they come to the party bring your retail products and tell them that 5-10 of their service will go towards retail products of their choice. If you could find someone to host a party with 3-4 of their friends and then invite those friends to also host a party for you. offer booking incentives to the people who come to the parties. you could build on that and see your clientele grow.

Nandy- I want to start doing Spa Parties but I don't know how to get people interested. I have an email list so I send emails out about once a week (sometimes less). I sent one out about Spa Parties, it's on my website and my brochures. Business has really slowed down for me since school started and I thought this would be a fun way to get things going again. How did you get the word out? Any tips you have about this would be appreciated. Thanks!
