How to find a Mentor while creating your own skincare line?

I'm currently in the process of starting a skincare product line and I'm in need of a skincare professional that has already established any beauty product line. It's really hard to ask or find other professionals that are willing to share their knowledge. So if you or you know anyone that would be willing to help and/or guide me pretty please, help me!!! Any info or leads will be greatly appreciated.

What question(s) do you have?

Hello Marty...I'm trying to find a mentor that has developed their own successful skincare product line for help and guidance. Do you know how I can connect with someone that's in that industry that I can become a menthe of?

Thanks

Tie,

Trust me I am qualified...

That is why I asked what is your question(s).  :)

Keep it on this board and I will help as this info will also help others who desire to go down this road. But really the first bit of advice I can give you is either empty your savings account or get an investor.  You will need a lot of money unless you are doing private label and dealing in quantities of under 100's.

As I said, ask away...

Thanks so much for your willingness to help!! I'm at the point now where I have exhausted my savings account to invest in my skincare line. I've done a business plan, opened a business account, fictitious name and all the legal stuff.

I have a finished product, but I don't know if I will need a chemist at this point to test? I have all natural ingredients, but don't know if the ingredients that I have in my product will need a preservative, etc.

I also want to know what you think about a focus group to gain feedback on my products? Your thoughts….

How many products do you have in the line?

What is the name of each product?  Not the name of the line...

What is the active ingredient(s)?

For now I have 6 products….body scrub, lip scrub, bubble bath, body butter, body oil, body lotion.

All products one or more of the following ingredients: EVOO, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, coconut oil, lotion base, shea butter, vitamin E oil, honey, essential oil, fragrance oils, glycerin, distilled water.

All of the products contain cocoa powder or an organic chocolate extract, or chocolate fragrance oil.

Your products are all fluffy, right?

Back up one second...

What is the basis for the line?  What is the goal?

Smell good / Results / ? ? ?

These are tough questions but if you don't know or have not thought of them, then... ?

Also, is the line for professionals to use as well?  What are the protocols and can your line complete a full facial protocol fluffy or results driven?

It is an all natural (no chemicals) skincare line that will eventually evolve into face, hair and body products (not exclusive to license professionals).

I do have the goal and the results for the product line, but would feel a lil more comfortable disclosing if I had a mentor to speak (i.e. over the phone, in person) with to get advice and guidance as I'm going through the process and during all the stages of development for support, etc. :) It's a lil hard to type out in this forum...

Thanks Marty

I can only help via this way.  It takes too much time the other way and there is too much to learn.  FYI - the reason I talked about the money is I know individuals who have developed a whole line and invested serious money and then it sits in a warehouse since they do not have distribution or pro clients to move the product.

What is more important I think is that if you do not get the foundation correct of what your line is suppose to do, the story, you will be lost in the mix.
