Hello group. I have a client who is 26, with sever Hyperpigmentation. She said it started 2 weeks after switching birth control. She stopped taking that one and went back to her original. She said during that time she had very bad breakouts and pigmentation scarring. We are doing microderm and a HQ peel. It is getting better and in winter we will do IPL. I was hoping for any information or tips you can offer. She is not sure why it is happening. I explained how melanin works from what I learned in school. I was just hoping for some info from your exsperenice Since I am new to the industry.

Look at the attached file for the look of Melasma and does her pattern fit that for hormonal pigmentation?

She is having bad break outs and pigmentation scarring?  That is a big deal and how can that be happening under your guidance?  Maybe client picking and more control / education is needed here.

I would not be doing Microderm on her as you are making her skin MORE sensitive to the sun and TEWL by thinning the SC which would only increase chances for pigmentation.  You could with this procedure be making her more inclined to pigment and what FItzpatrick No. is she?

Why are you doing a HQ Peel on her.  An HQ peel can NOT function as intended and is not a good peel to do.  HQ needs to be used daily for a set period of time and then taken out of regimen. I am assuming that you mean HQ as in Hydroquinone, right?
