Ingrown hairs on legs after waxing... Why does this happen?? Help please!! :(

Hello... Some of my clients get ingrown hairs after being waxed, some I can see on the surface of the skin while I am waxing them amd it is a big concern of mine as I don't want them to stop waxing because of this... I am wondering if anyone experiences this when their clients come back after having their legs waxed... Is it the wax I am using perhaps, and is this common? Thank you kindly! :)

It can happen sometimes but some people are just prone to ingrowns already especially if they have coarse hair. Also, what brand of wax are you using? What are you using to prep the skin beforehand? Make sure they are not shaving in between wax sessions as it will affect the hair growth.

I would also get them to use an exfoliant/body wash with salicylic acid on a regular basis, maybe that will help too!

Hi Katrina. Thank you for your reply, I am using Nudese Nufree wax and I do not prep the skin prior to waxing but should probably start incorporating this into the service. They also do not shave in between visits as these clients are faithful to waxing. I thank you once again.

Thank you very much Lauren, I have asked them to exfoliate and this has helped but there are still some ingrowns on the legs, however I have not suggested an exfoliant with salicylic acid and will ask them to try that! :)

No problem Yadira! Well since I have not used NuFree wax I can't say from experience of using that wax but I find prepping the skin to be a pretty important step. What I do is prep the skin with the lavender lotion clean the area and then use a few drops of the Jasmine oil to massage into the legs and gently pushing the hair upward. Another trick is to use the dry body brush to help buff up the hairs before I wax. The prep products I like using are from Berodin but I've also used Cirepil and they're a good company as well.

Lauren-Where do you tell your clients to purchase the exfoliant/body wash with salicylic acid? Or do you sell it yourself?

Thank you once again Katrina for the helpful advice.. I will buy some of those products to prep and the bushing and buffin the hairs prior to waxing certainly sounds like a great idea!! :)

Claire, I will suggest this also... Most tend to come  in comfy clothes but some do not.. Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback, it is greatly appreciated ladies!! :)

Try all of the comments already mentioned and tell them to come in loose fitting clothing so when they leave they are not wearing tight fitted jeans etc (and for a few days).  Wearing tight clothing especially if you are prone to ingrown hairs will make them worse and can cause them also.    Make sure you are applying the wax and removing correctly.   Apply towards, remove against.  Not doing this can also cause ingrown hairs.
