Hey there, I am thinking about going rental in the salon i currently work at. Was wondering if there are some rental gals or guys out there that could help me with of a list of things i really need to consider before making the move... and also maybe some cost of things...such as a rough est. of monthly products(i know different lines are different) or maybe credit card machines... really anything could help! thanks!
In my opinion.......... You should make sure you are only paying a flat monthly rent and all business income, expenses and everything are your responsibility and YOU are in control of everything you do, services, hours worked, product used, retail, etc. Your own little business inside of the salon totally independent. Next as far as credit card machine I use GoPayment from Intuit. No land line needed just an IPhone or Android. They provide the card swiper that fits onto your phone and the money goes into your bank account usually within 3 business days. Inexpensive to use and the percentage charged is very reasonable with no hidden fees. You log into your account and all transaction records are right there, very easy. I also use GenBook online scheduling, ASCP also endorses another company that does online booking. These are great as you are not always available to answer your phone to make appointments while servicing clients, also reasonably priced. I keep my own appointments schedule and the salon I am in gives my phone number to clients when I am not in the salon. The product you choose to use will be an investment but most companies will work with you to help you get what you need to start providing services. I use Tu'el and love the company. They are there to help. If you are not already make sure you are insured. ASCP charges $259/yr. great price for what they are providing for you. If you don't have equipment Craigslist is a great place to find used if that is best for your budget. My facial machine I purchase on Ebay (new) for less than $500 and it works as well as the one I purchased for $1500 14yrs. ago. Hope that helps a bit.
