Hi,
Did anyone have a bad outcome from using an LED lamp on clients?
After completing 15 minutes of red light therapy on a client she called later in the day and complained of a sunburned appearance along with hyperpigmentation.
I later found the client was using a topical antibiotic for acne and my dermatologist said it made the skin more light sensitive.
Should I be aware of any other contraindications?
thanks for sharing.

I have also had some reactions. Some peeling after LED and redness and hotness. But, I have figured it out to be more from products used w/ LED and not the light.
Anything that makes the skin light sensitive is a contraindication. Some anti-depressants and retinoids included. I wonder if she would have been ok if you put a good sunscreen on her under the LED?????
Thanks so much!
To be honest, I used LED on myself for anti-aging and it did bring up my hyperpigmentation. So I discontinued using it. Therefore, I did not use it in my treatment room.
I had a client yesterday ask if it causes hyper pigmentation and I didn't think so, thanks
I thought it would diminish pigmentation, humm, thanks
Thanks so much
Don't know if that's going to draw clients in knowing that!
Thanks
I'm dealing with a sunburned look and some hyperpigmentaion :(
Thanks
Can I ask what equipment you are using and what product?
I bought a cheapy photon LED from amazon and initially had a "brown" look to my skin but after just a few uses, I was all clear of HORRIBLE pigmentation. I am guessing she is on some light sensitive meds OR she could be using phototoxic chemicles such a lemon or grapefruit.
Any Acne medication is going to make someone more sensitive.
