This is a personal treatment question. My lips have been cracking and peeling due to the constant change in the weather. This year has been the worst. Ive managed to get that under control, but my biggest concern is it left scars on them, and left black pigmentation in those areas. Im used to my lips being pinkish color, and now they look horrible. Is there anything that i can use to lighten them back. I thought about slicing a lemon, and rubbing on them. Any suggestions. I would GREATLY appreciate it.

How long has the wound been healed ? The wound may still be healing under the surface and desperately needs time to see if the underlying damage will mend. I would advise (strongly) to steer clear of the lemon in hopes of lightening. Without a doubt will create drier more damaged lips. Would advise an pure aloe vera juice (purchased @ your local Natural Grocery) as a lip rub and drink to heal. Then apply a barrier (healing lip balm) over the aloe. Does not taste great although beneficial internally and externally :)

It just dawned on me natural aloe plant. But it may be too late now to use it
Thanks so much for replying. Honestly i thought it healed twice, and attempted to gently remove the flakey skin (spellcheck) and it would open up it up again. Im currently using PCA lip peptide therapy, which causes the excess skin to peel as well. You would think with my being the peofessional i wouldnt pick or mess with it, its just hard because its my lips and ppl ask "your lips are extremely dry". Doesnt look good with me beung an esthetician. Ughhh. I will try the aloe juice and stick to the lip balm

LOL - As Estheticians we also know it is human nature to try to remove something we do not want :)

Hope your lip condition improves !

Cracked lips are the worst ... I have a lot of trouble with that myself, every winter. I find that regardless of what you put on the outside to heal them, the thing that makes the biggest difference is drinking LOTS of water. Whenever I am not drinking enough water, it shows in my lips long before it affects the rest of my skin. I hope they get better soon!

Absolutely Carrie !  We should be drinking half of our body weight in ounces.  If you weigh 126 pounds your daily intake of water should be at the very least 63 ounces :)

agreed  iskyn for me! but It is not necessary or recommended to drink more water than what's required for your body and weight. Drinking too much water each day can be dangerous.

Second that David :)  Too much H2O could be toxic and cause vital organs to shut down.

Believe it or not I drink 1.5L of water at least every day. Also you would think with me being in Florida this winter ( if you want to call it that lol) instead of Atlanta I wouldnt be going through this. Hopefully they will lighten back up prettt soon.

Ha ha ha - all two days of Winter :)

Lol. If we are even lucky to have two days of winter. I call it a minor cold front.
@Carrie I know chapped lips are the worst. Constantly applying lip balms in the winter can be a hastle
