I am a Esthetician with a type 6 license. I have been working for other companies for some time now, and I was making them lots of money. My expertise is manly medical esthetics: laser hair removal, ST, FF, chemical peels, and inectables. I am curently pursuing opening my own med spa. I live in massachusettes. I know the laws are different in every state, but I can't seem to get a straight answer, not even from the board of cosmatology. I'm told I can do laser hair removal, micros, and facials ect, without a physician on board but not injectables, FF, ST, tatto removal, that I would need to have a physician on board for. I also would need to get malpractice insurance for myself, but if I had a physician on board would I fall under his insurance? Is there anyone who can help give me the right answers to the laws in Boston, Ma. Ive been driving myself crazy trying to get a straight answer. Can anyone help. Thanks

What is a type 6 license?  You would need your own malpractice for the services you legally can perform I would imagine.  Then fall under the MD malpractice if you do anything out of your scope under him/her.  Are you saying you can do injectables?  Plus, you would need liability for the Med Spa itself.

I didn't think any esthetician could do injectibles.  Also, what is FF and ST?
