I am in search of a Ultrasound/scrubber/microderm machine. Anyone have a recommendation? Also which do you prefer Crystals or Diamond.  HELP!!

I prefer diamond. I have read that the crystals can cause micro tears in the skin. I'm not sure if there is any truth in that but I stick with diamond to be safe.

Actually - I have heard the complete OPPOSITE to Tiffany's info!

I personally have a Diamond tip, but since it gets very little use I am thinking of retiring it.

I think you really have to LOVE the treatment to sell it... I don't love it for myself and am pretty cautious on who I would recommend it to.

If I do decide to reintroduce microdermabrasion I am leaning towards a higher end crystal unit not the diamond tip units.

Hi Verneta!

I am in the exact same boat.  Most of my treatments are peels.  It has been a success but somehow the term MICRODERMABRASION is still perceived as sexy, important- who knows?  Give the people what they want!  I was supposed to order this stupid machine days ago but due to the conflicting reports I am loathe to make a move.  Help!  Maybe someone who has experience using both will respond.  Anyway, take care. HH

I have seen machines that do both but they cost $5000 i don't have that kind of cash laying around. Hopefully we can find a solution :)

Where are you located?

I'm sorry Verneta - you asked for recommendations too...

Do you have a budget in mind? What is the most you are looking to spend?

And do you want a multi unit or seperate units?

I do highly recommend getting the Ultrasonic skin scrubber, they take awhile to get the hang of but they are safe and effective for most people.

I know a lot of people get some very low cost imports for microdermabrasion units - but you DO get what you pay for and I don't think that the diamond tips are as good quality as you could get on the higher end units.(IMHO)

I have one of the less expensive Sylvan models with all of the features  While it works just fine, like Cindy says, I am not a huge fan of Micro.  I prefer peels.  I think honestly the best way to go for just starting out is scratch getting a machine...duy dermafiles which are the same as a diamond micro without the suction and market it to be safe for almost everyone, where as micro with suction is not for people with broken capillaries.  just a thought.  I think you can get more aggressive with crystal but you can also pair the diamond with a peel and have it be just as effective.  Everyone is going to have something to say about the opposite of what they have.  Just do your research and see what you believe.  Almost all of my clients are contraindicated for micro..I do think there is a crystal system that is safe for people with rosacea although the name is not with me right now, but will ask my Esthetician friend because she has it and loves it.  The one thing I hated about the crystal in school was crystals all over the place and never feeling like you could get the skin totally free of them.

@ Sheila - I think it may be the Clear FX.

And I agree - I am more of a Peel person too.  The best results can be through combining treatment and product. The majority of people would be better off investing in the proper home care products that you recommend intead of thinking that one treatment - any treatment - is the answer.

I will have to ask but I think the MFG is Skin for Life.  They are local for us too which is a plus!!
