I am working at an established day spa that has never offered microdermabrasion. The owner is now considering the possibility and would like to start investigating. I am looking for feedback (the good, the bad, the indifferent) on the different systems that my colleagues use. Included in the feedback, I would be grateful for esthetic results, vendor instruction/support/service, ease of cleaning machine (I am fanatical about cleanliness), and liability issues.

Thanks so much!

Athena 4000 - NOOOOOO it leaves your client looking like they've been in a sand storm

BELLA Microdermabrasion - Very nice, has aspiration, few crystals left on the skin, vendor support is good, getting supplies is easy.

Skin For Life - Variety of machines that come with other attachments so you can use one machine for several services: microdermabrasion, add on LED Light Therapy or Oxygen system...also it is affordable and comes with vendor support.

Hope this helps.

I do packages of diamond head microderm.  My clients love the results.  I shy away from crystal heads because I was told in school it can scare the skin.  Diamond heads are more gentle.  I do a series of 3-6 every 10-14 days and repeat in 3 months.

In between I do a series of LED.  Amazing results.  LED has helped with pigmentation, scaring, acne, wrinkles, fine lines, tone, texture, moles and brightness of skin.  I do believe the products used during the microderm treatment, really make a huge difference.

My clients do 10-15 minutes and never leave red or inflammed.  Of course, you have to diagnose each skin type and make sure it is appropriate.  I do alot of galvantic with most my treatments, but that is also based on if the client doesn't have any contradictions to treatment.

Karla, What is the name of the machine you are using. Do you know the price?

Hi Karla,
What brand equipment do you have and how much did it cost you? I would like offer the same treatments.

Thanks,
Cindy
Hi!
I'm an esthetician and a distributor of DiamondTome equipment. Glad to see you asking for opinions. I prefer our system because our units are very effective on a variety of skin types and conditions. Also you want to make sure the company you are using is reputable. Our systems are the original and hold the patent in crystal free. The company is a ISO certified and the equipment is FDA cleared. Also you want to make sure your company you are considering can prove they have CSA or UL certification. Our equipment is cost effective to use and easy to take care of. I would be glad to email you more info if you would like. www.MedSpaDistributors.com

Here's my two cents!! I've been anti-microderm for quite a few years. Mostly because I have been doing it since 1990 and got bored with the technology. I've done both crystal and diamond. An Esty friend purchased the Dermasweep and wouldn't stop raving about it, so I checked it out. I am no longer anti-microderm! :)

It's fabulous. It's a bit different than the typical microderm, it uses different strength bristles which feel totally different to the client. I'm getting great feedback from those clients...they love it!

You can read more on my website at: http://www.shelleyhancock.com/dermasweep.html

If you want variety you can also use the DIamondTome hydrowands with whatever serum you think is best for your clients skin. It's an option with the systems.

Hi Pamela... I have the diamondtome and still love it..looking into the hydrowands..

can you let me know more about it...I friended you on here...inbox me when u can..thx !

Give me old-school crystal microderm any day!  Done with knowledge and training there will be no scarring.  Of course ANY machine you use..(IF you are not well trained on it!) can damage the skin.  It's all about the training.

The machine I am wanting is the ClearFX!!!  I took their class last year at a show, and was truly impressed!  These machines also come with the ability to switch to diamond tips as well.  I can see myself using this machine all day every day.  The normal crystals come in 100 or 120 grit, and the Clear FX has very fine 180 grit crystals.  I was VERY impressed with this machine, and the mist infuser after treatment looked like it felt so lovely!

Nondy

Nondy, I too was impressed with this machine. I liked that you could use crystal and diamond tip with the mist infuser. Also took their class along with others at the Jacob Javits Center in March 2011. Little pricey!!!

I didn't think it was too much for what you get.  Now the upper-end MD models at around 7K may be too much, but for around 4-5K I really feel you could make this back really quickly.  Especially if you have an event where they come, and do treatments on your clients, and you get them signed up on packages.  You conceivably could pay for your machine in just a few months!  And after that, it's all profit.

If I were a solo, this would probably be the mcahine I spent money on, because the ROI on microderm (promoted correctly!) is excellent.

Take care,

Nondy

Hi Nondy

I too looked into their machine and was really considering purchasing the ClearFX.

Be very careful in dealing with this company. I purchased a steamer from them a couple years back from the Vegas show.  It arrived damaged and when I returned it for a replacement I all got was weeks of problems with Nick.  So I was left with shipping costs, insurance cost and NO new steamer.  I was never able to get my money back or my steamer.  At one point I was so frustrated that I asked him to at least send me the damaged one thinking that I could have it repaired.  I never heard back from him.
