Hi all, Has anyone out there had issues with any mineral makeup?  We sell Jane Iredale, which is the top line mineral makeup line from everything I've learned, but when I've used the products, my skin feels dry and itchy and looks fake.  I've had some training, and I've tried different formulas (pressed, loose, and bb cream).  I've used the hydration sprays afterwards as directed.  I put it on one morning during a training and went about the rest of my day at work and honestly couldn't wait to get home and wash my face.   And I'm somone who has never reacted to any products badly, including drugstore foundations, retinols, etc.  Bare Minerals did the same thing.  I just wonder if there are people who simply can't use mineral makeup.  Thanks.

I use Jane Iredale Purepressed base and it is one of the few foundations I can wear.  I don't typically have an acne problem but most foundations will cause clogged pores on my cheeks and chin.  I am also allergic to most topical fragrances.  I did read something on the acne board about one of the ingredients (algae extract) being comedogenic but I have used it for over 14 years without a problem.  I apply it very lightly with a brush.  Maybe you have an allergy to one of the ingredients.

I have dry skin and am not a fan of powder, but even the BB cream didn't work for me.  It could be one of the ingredients.  I wondered if anyone had clients that maybe had this issue as well?  It's hard for me to sell it, as I'm really not a fan of it at all.  My friend wears it, and even with the hydration spray, I can see the powder on her skin and I don't think it looks good at all.  Same with our rep.   I try to avoid when people ask me about it, due to these issues.

I don't know if I tried the liquid minerals, I may try it tomorrow if we have a tester.  Not sure we have a tester or not for that.  Honestly, I personally like plain old Cover Girl liquid foundation.  I've tried the high end brands when I worked at Ulta and got a discount and really wasn't impressed with a $40 foundation over CG.

I remember a make up artist once telling me and I quote..."no one over the age of 30 should be wearing mineral powder makeup."  I really believe that, the more I see it on older women.

We don't, as of now.  I hope they don't tell us we have to start wearing it.  But any advice on how to sell it, when I really don't like it?

I've colormatched people, but haven't done full face applications with it.  I don't consider myself a makeup artist, and don't really enjoy doing makeup on others.  We have a contractor who does that.  But I've had my clients ask me about it, and I can tell them all the marketing stuff, good for your skin, etc, and match them with the right foundation for their skin type.  I just need to make myself sound more enthusiastic about it.   Thanks!

I think it must be how it is applied or the skin type.  I am 45 and I apply a VERY light amount with a brush. Sometimes I almost forget to apply it because the difference is not that dramatic.  I actually use a brush from The Body Shop that I like much better than the JI brushes.  I currently don't sell makeup and I've had several clients ask me if I'm wearing foundation because they can't tell.

I have actually tried to find a makeup with more coverage for those times when I want to look more polished but haven't found anything I can wear.  I'm thinking about checking into Oxgenetix.

I agree about it being hard to sell something you can't use or don't like yourself.

Motives by Loren Rodinger has line that has mineral makeup and also they sell kit to customize custom blend foundation as well as minerals powders. If you want more info about Custom Foundation & powders I can send you more info. I have them in my salon very easy to sell and clients love them.

Zuii organic cosmetics is NOT  a mineral, but the ONLY flora make-up in the world, meaning...their ingredients are crush flowers and essential oil base, making it excellent for sensitive and acne skin types!
