Are there any estheticians who are mobile? What are the pros and cons of doing so? I'm transitioning to cut my overhead expenses.

It's illegal in most states.

You are in FL, it is illegal there.

That does not mean people don't do it and even advertise that they do it, but you can lose your license.

Does anyone know if it is legal in Illinois?

it is legal

Interesting discussion.   Now I wonder if it's legal in Nevada or Arizona.  Hmmmm...have to find out.

AZ yes, not sure about NV

Can anyone show me where I can read that it's illegal in Florida? I would prefer to see it in writing as supporting evidence.

It's just as easy for your to look it up as it is for me to do it for you.

It's illegal

Chapter 477.025

You can only operate within a licensed establishment that meets board approval or operate a "mobile salon" which is defined as a salon within a mobile vehicle (ie. a motor home kind of thing) which also must meet board requirements and must be available for inspection at all times.

You can't move your things into a persons home and call it "mobile".

Thanks, Samantha!  This law is same in AZ on mobile salon as FL.

AZ allows mobile services that are NOT in an RV or van, whereas FL does not allow them.

32-574 - Unlawful acts

6. Practice or attempt to practice cosmetology, aesthetics or nail technology in any place other than in a salon, unless the person is requested by the customer to go to a place other than a salon ...and is sent to the customer from a salon.

So you can't be 100% mobile in AZ, you have to work out of a licensed salon as a base of operations.

FL only allows the exception if the client is confined for medical reasons or is in a retirement home.

Thanks Samantha. I read that but I believe I saw the specs in regards to other beauty personnel.
