My sister has been suffering from acne breakouts for a few years now and did during adolescents as well. She started her breakouts again once going off birth control and during her first pregnancy and then not during her second but she is now suffering again from breakouts. She is still breastfeeding so I am somewhat limited to what I can do, but I also feel she is having an allergic reaction as well. She came in yesterday and while her face has some large pustules and papules in the cheek area and some on the chin (and she gets these everywhere, forehead, temples, chin line)....but she also has these tiny little rash like bumps all over her face and neck, declotte, and upper back area. I advised her that she could be having some allergy and to slowly back off dairy or things that she is eating on a daily basis to see if that is the problem with the allergy. Would you think this is an allergy if you saw it too? They aren't anything extractable so that is why I am assuming this. Also, with the acne part, I know her hormones are also playing a huge role in this as her menstrual cycle is coming back, and she does have some digestion issues....but how would you treat this? Also, any suggestions on how I could calm the other bumps? My thoughts was a soothing gel mask with chamomile or something which I have by Glotherapeutics, and I was also thinking I could use some green or turquoise LED light therapy on her, or perhaps high frequency with the penetration mode. She said that it's not itchy, so maybe it's not an allergy but just a digestion issue. Also, she has been under huge amounts of stress so is this just her body reacting? I treated her the other day with a vitamin c enzyme and then a mud type mask with teatree oil in it. From the time she came in to the time she left, her skin looked less irritated and the next day she said the large imflammation spots looked a lot better, but still has these little bumps.
I know that I am asking a ton of questions here and I am sorry, I just want to be able to help her out the best way possible. My question is, what do you think about the tiny bumps, what is the best way to treat them, how should I handle the acne (she will be done breast feeding soon so I was thinking Salicylic peels, but not if she has those tiny bumps)?
I appreciate all of your advice and feedback. Have a great day!

That sounds like a hormonal issue and/or allergy. I wouldn't use a Salicylic peel yet, but maybe a cleanser containing Salicylic. Skin Scripts has a Blemish Control Cleanser, with 2% & 2% Glycolic with Tea Tree, it's a raspberry-based acne control cleanser and it's inexpensive. The other product I've used for a client is the Pure Oxygen cleanser from G.M. Collin which also has Salicylic acid. G.M. Collin doesn't sell directly unless you have an acct with them and it's a bit expensive to open one, but there's a company called Skin One that retails some of their products. My choice would be Skin Scripts, which has no minimum order and their products are very effective. On the other hand, your sister might like to check with a Dermatologist. Whatever you choose, please let us know the outcome of the treatment. We're all in this together and everything is a learning experience. Good luck!
I would recommend that you suggest she see a dermatologist. Sometimes clients need to consider seeing a dermatologist. You don't want to accidentally make her situation worse. If this were a regular client (not your sister) and you used products or made suggestions that made the problem worse they could try to sue you. Might be nothing at all, but a doctor can confirm or deny. Good Luck!

Thanks ladies! Well the great news is that as of Friday her skin looked a lot better and as of Sat, even better. The tony bumps are going away, she has backed off the milk in the am and all of her spots htat were inflammed were flat as of Sat. She was also using the Kiss mY Face citrus wash and I told her to back off that and gave her some of my glo samples. She was going to see a derm but wanted to see me first to see if we could get it under control. I started with the enzyme, no steam just to test the waters and see how she would react. I won't start her on the peels until the red tiny bumps have subsided, although I may try a lactic on her since her skin seemed to dry and see how that reacts. I think the high frequency really helped her too. She is so excited and so am I. I think this is the most rewarding part actually being able to see the changes in the skin. It's incredible. I will look into these other products you guys have suggested and also, Grace, I am interested in your book. Do you have a particular place you would like me to buy it and is it available in a paperback or just audio or kindle type thing?
