Greetings all,

Had a few of my clients and esthetic students have asked me if Washington state estheticians are allowed to perform needle free mesotherapy.

So far I have been unsuccessful in locating any information to provide clarification. These are class 1 machines as far as I know which are within the scope of practice but I would like to hear from any of you who have facts/documentation to back this up.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Coleen - I am not exactly sure what the technology is for "needle-free mesotherapy".

But I am thinking that it is the electroporation technology.

Contact Shelley Hancock or check out her group for info on the Time Master.

California is the state that is getting all wacky about machines (like LED) - I would hate to see other states follow.

Thanks Cindy! Actually that thread is the reason I started taking a closer look at Washington rules and laws.

From what I have read, needle free mesotherapy is iontophoresis which as far as I can tell is a class 1 machine (unless there is a laser attached-heaven help us!!) and that seems to be the determining factor in this state.

Thanks again.
I was just inspected last week in california and was told I couldn't use led, but was also told I couldn't use micro current or needle-free mesotherapy as well as osmosis skin products, because they had the word Medi and Dermal listed in the brochure. I have a larger needle free mesotherapy machine that my friend gave me and it's larger than the handheld time master that shelly handcock sells, so maybe that's the reason, but both my machines are listed as class 1 devices and I was still told I couldn't use them. I contacted Shelly about this since I'm sure she would know, but haven't heard back.
Good to know. I did read Susanne Schmaling's response to either you or a similar post. She referenced the pending CA changes and said to appeal.

Susanne gave me a lot of good information and it sounds like things are in the "Pending" stages right now. Thankfully I didn't get any fines and the inspector just said to take down the brochures and she would see me in a year, which hopefully by then California Estheticians will have a better understanding of what we can and can't do.
