Hello all!!!

I am two weeks into my first esthetics job at a day spa, and I was hired independent contractor. My problem is they have a product line that I am suppose to use and retail, but I don't like it...It is Dermalogica, and honestly I have a acneic client coming in tomorrow that I don't know what products to use because the back bar is the minimal purchase.  The only thing they have is a oil free matte SPF for their "anti-bac" line.  

I was super excited to get in an actual client who is looking for skin changes vs. the run of the mill "relaxing" facials that don't care to re book.  I am a little disheartened, and honestly don;t know what to do...

Even their retail cabinet is mostly anti aging stuff, so how am I suppose to help my client without stepping on the spa owners toes?  I also feel it is harder to sell this product because you can get it at Ulta, how do you handle that?

Maybe the word 'RESULTS' needs to be clarified.

There is another thing that might be stated as well:

The top results driven lines could 'never' (this word used lightly) be used inside a school with individuals who have limited experience.  I would say that is why maybe there is such a harsh reaction toward Dermalogica. I hear it all the time and to be honest I probably snap a little quick also.

I really don't even know where this is going anymore. It seems as though this post has turned into a play on words. Bottom line there was minimal back bar to treat specific skin conditions. If people are coming in with problems/concerns I am unable to best serve them on the table or with retail due to lack of specific selection.

Thanks to everyone who had productive advise. After meeting with the owner today and the dermalogica rep, she made it clear that she didn't want to invest in a better selection. So, I will be on the job hunt.

The back bar has to promote home care. It is the home care that is truly the driver in a results driven line. Aside from chemical peels and other mechanical treatments I guess I was confused on exactly what results can be had with a product line when your seeing a client 1 - 4 times a month and expecting your back bar to do the work while 'what' is going on at home in AM and PM is ???

Maybe I did not see a post or something specific being pointed out.

There is basic retail to use for home care.  We don't carry enough retail FOR home care for specific skin conditions.  If someone want to come in for a "fluff and buff", I can totally do that.

I don't know how else to say this.  So, I'm done.
