I would love to hear everyone's feedback on organic vs non-organic products, and what lines people like the best.  I have people who ask me about organics, and the reps I have spoken to from some companies tell me you can't get good results with true organic because you would need too much of the natural ingredient to make it affordable.  Does anyone use organic products they love and get results from?   I'm thinking mostly anti-aging and acne.

i have been using ilike organics for about 2 yrs and i LOVE the line. its distributed by a company called szep elet. they were very nice about splitting the minimum buy-in ( i think it was $1500) over 2 orders to make it more affordable for me because im a sole proprieter. ilike is amazing! they dont just have botanical extracts but the pulp of the fruits and are totally certified organic. the scents of the products are luscious and they are from the ingredients not some added fragrance. they have no parabens and a shelf life of about 1.5 yrs. i didnt have any problems with product in my backbar turning(the scent changed and things just smelled less potent) until they were actually 2 yrs old & obviously those were not the products i used much so i just edited my backbar and service menu to reflect the best sellers & products i liked to use most.

the serums are very potent. my favorite is the anti-aging bioflavanoid & the matching moisturizer. the masks are all incredible my clients & i love the tart cherry, stonecrop, & rose. i use the glycolic medlar rejuvinating treatment as part of my antiaging facial as a mask after diamond exfoliation.

i just cant say enough about this line. i dont sell alot of it retail because it is really expensive and im not in a wealthy area. but i use the products to boost the luxury experience of my facials. i mix them in with what i call my "affordable line" Guinilla of Sweden. all products in this line are $40 or under and i do sell alot of this line. Guinilla has some parabens but the base of all the products is organic hyroponically grown aloe vera. i highly reccommend this line as well. great performance at a great price!

 

i also sell Onesta organic haircare even though i dont do hair. i just got hooked on the product line and decided it was a good fit for my clients. fantastic organic line to round out your organic product offerings. no detergents, parabens ets and high end salon proformance!!

Thank you for the feedback.  So you feel these products treat acne and anti-aging as well as the retinols and salycilic acid products?  Also, what you said about price is what I've heard, too expensive, in order to get enough truly natural organic ingredients, it simply cost too much. 

i do think organics work as well if not better, but the end results may not be as fast or dramatic as some people like. i think my product lines are extremely effective and results are immediately evident, but they dont leave my office with a red face like they do with a peel so some people may not feel its as strong as other lines/treatments. with my lines they leave looking fresh & beautiful and over a few weeks and several facials we see the acne improve and the fine lines/dryness/tone improve for maturing skin.

it depends on your philosophy. some people want to go to an md and get a script or they feel they arent really adressing their concern effectively(thats skin or the rest of the body). and some people want an all natural approach that they cant get from an md for healthcare(im partial to alternative health because im a massage therapist, so my clients like this approach as well), but they know this route sometimes takes patience and perseverance to treat health. organics are a lifestyle choice for many people. a growing market of people. the parabens (preservatives that are in most products) are "estrogenic" they mimic estrogen & there is some research that is linking them to cancer. many clients dont know this and a little education can make organics seem very reasonable in price for the added benefit of fitting their skincare into the chemical free lifestyle goals.

 

to me, you have to have a product line that fits your client base. a medical line doesnt fit my clients or myself. i have also often made the assumption that people would not spend money and found out my gut was wrong on that. ive learned to not underestimate what clients will spend on skincare.

You should probably be weary of any rep disclosing their opinion on the subject and the term "organic" is often diluted without proper authorization by the FDA to use the term.  Several products are even unknowingly in violation of use in their labeling and manufacturing practices.

 

An affordable suggestion would be to review the labeling for certain organic bases in the ingredients rather than EOs and extracts which combine for less than 10% of most formulas.  Many organic base oils contribute the most to the effects which your are seeking.  So, in respect, I think it is a misnomer to talk about the quality of the results, but the focus should be on the right ingredients w/n the product claims to be "organic."
