PCA certified ???
Hello~
In reading your posts earlier in the week, a few of you mentioned that you really like PCA brand peels. I called the company to see if I could get some info on their products and some pricing. What I found is that in order to use/sell their products you must go through a peel class with their company. I am not opposed to taking their one day class and gaining more information, but here is the problem the next class I can atend in my state is Dec 4th.
So my question is, what peel product would you all reccomend in the meantime? (I am a new Esty) And did any of you take the class and find it beneficial? The class is $175 but that goes toward product upon completion of the class and short test afterwards.

That is a bummer that you have to wait till Dec 4th for the class in your area! The class is very beneficial but it is a lot to learn in one day (basically all day long) so you will definitely need to go by the book PCA gives you. I also email representatives if I have any questions/concerns about my clients and they are so helpful. The best peel to start out with would be Sensi Peel, it is so wonderful because it is gentle but very effective. Most of my clients don't even peel from it but they tell me that they love it! I also retail PCA products as well and I love almost every product from the line. If you have any further questions let me know, I'd be happy to help you.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. I will look into Sensi peel for now. I am looking forward to the PCA class, guess I will just have to wait till Dec.
Would you reccomend one over the other? PCA or Sensi?

PCA peel is stronger (Jessner) but I prefer the Sensi because it seems more effective. The Sensi peel is a TCA peel which has a little less percentage of Lactic acid but it has wonderful ingredients that PCA peel doesn't have such as Azelaic acid-effective melanogenesis inhibitor to brighten complexion, Arbutin which corrects hyperpigmentation as well but effective antioxidant and skin conditioner..and then Vitamin C to stimulate collagen production. I do Sensi and Ultra peel 1 on my clients and if they want more results they can add another layer for $20, and same price for adding the retinol boosters ( Esthetique peel, Ultra peel 2). So far I have been successful getting clients to pay for the add ons. Also, I give them a series of 3 discount price and include a customized daily care kit ( Just 3 basic products since it's more affordable for me to purchase) and post care kit. I think people really go for that. I suggest you try the peels on different people to get a feel for which ones you like using.

Thank you so much for your info I truly appreciate it. I am going to look into this peel, I like the sounds of it. So is Ultra peel 1 another brand of peels, or in the Sensi line?
What are you reccomending for the post care kit and daily kit?

The Ultra peel 1 is from the PCA line and it's just like Sensi peel, it's a TCA peel. It's specifically to use on dehydrated mature skin types. I buy PCA's post care kit for my clients but when I do the daily kit I just customize the trial size products for their skin types. Like acne kit of BPO 5% wash, Acne cream and Clearskin.. if they have normal skin I just put Facial Wash, rebalance and weightless protection SPF 45 or the Perfecting protection SPF 30. I only put together 3 basic products, I think people get overwhelmed by the many products in the PCA kits and it is expensive! That way clients not only save $20 from buying the series, they get to try out trial sizes of products for home care. Then they get interested in buying in full sizes. I didn't start retailing any products until I discovered how wonderful PCA is with not only their peels but their product line as well. It took me a long time trying to figure out how I was going to do the kits with the series of 3 discount, but so far it has worked well for me!

You're welcome! I am glad to help you out Kristen. Are you going to be renting a room soon? Better have your website going by then and it's worth the pay to get to show up in the google listings, it will really help clients find out about you. It takes a while to get it showing up on the first few pages for searching in your area and good keywords are important. Business was very slow for me for the first year and half and now it totally picked up this summer by them finding my website. I don't get hardly any clients that come regularly for facials...but they definitely do for Waxing and Peel services! =)

So good to know. Did you get your website through ASCP? I will be room renting in a very large salon that has a website, but I did not think of having my own. I will need all the marketning I can get since this will be such a huge career change for me, one w/o a guaranteed paycheck! That is that scary part. My favorite part of being an esthetician are the facials, I hope I get more of those than waxing : ) Waxing has not been my favorite thing!! : )

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you! I have my website through Homestead but ASCP may be worth a try since it's free. I pay about $35 per month to have it running and featured in google search. Having a website really helped clients find out about me once it got on the first page and then of course Yelp and any review websites. Why is waxing not something you enjoy doing? Have you considered taking training classes to see if you can improve your skills before you turn it away? If facials are just your thing, I understand that because some estheticians just have their own preferences and you can become an expert at one service if you find you're really good at it. Only reason I think you should stick with waxing is because you will always get clients for that service more than skin care, unless you do specific treatments to target their skin concerns.

I love PCA. I personally use a lot of the Clarifying Mask for acne, and the Ultra Peel 1 for aging skin, especially sensitive rosacea types like me. When you take classes after the initial one, the cost of the class becomes a full product credit, which I love. There is at least one class though, that comes with another kit, I don't know why, since it's an advanced class. I'm hoping the lady I spoke with was mistaken on this. Detox Gel is great on blackheads, especially those on the nose.

Katrina~ Thank you for your info on the website, it is something I am going to for sure do. As far as waxing, I am going to offer waxing, I just do not enjoy doing it as much as facials. I know there is good $$ in it, and I think taking a class to refresh my skills is a good idea. That may help me feel a bit more comfortable doing it, especially Brazillians. They seem to be all the rage here in CO, who would have thought!! LOL
Cyndi~ Thank you for your input as well. I unfortunately cannot get in till Dec 4th for the next class offered here in my state, CO. I guess I will have to wait and use another peel in the meantime. It looks like I will be in business in September, so I will need another peel for then. Otherwise, I really like what I am hearing about PCA.
