Hi everyone. I am a new esthetician looking to purchase my first microdermabrasion machine. I dont really need all the bells and whistles. I'm on a tight (very tight) budget, but i would like to purchase a machine that works well. I've been all over the internet researching different machines, but honestly I dont know what to believe as far as customer reviews, many of them arenot even estheticians. Any recommendatians?

Thanks so much!

How tight is your budget? Are you wanting crystal, diamond tome... Have you looked at other exfloiating equipment? I LOVE my Dermasound!

Hi there. I can afford $400. I havent looked into other equiptment. I do prefer diamond

check out Sylvan.  They are affordable...not top of the line obviously but gets the job done.

an esthetician that I work with bought one on amazon for $350- It works- But it is def not as impressive as a more expensive one- it clogs and just wasnt the same- would it be possible to save money for a couple of more months so you have a little bit more money to invest? I know it is so hard to buy equipment on a tight budget- but you really do get what you pay for.

Unfortunately this is one of those situations where "you get what you pay for".  I've seen them from the lowest of lows on up to $20K!  (yikes).  I ended up with the BT Hydroderm for $4,500 and am very happy with it, however I strongly feel that microdermabrasion isn't for everyone or every skin type.  My recommendation is that if you are on a tight budget now that you offer skin treatments that provide the same results as microdermabrasion (which is really only a form of exfoliation and many peels and deep exfoliations offer the same results) and you advertise them as alternatives to microdermabrasion.  You might even turn microdermabrasion on its head and advertise "progressive, not aggressive" treatments.  (meaning that microdermabrasion can often be too deep and possibly damaging to the skin and instead you offer an alternative in deep exfoliation over a series of 6 treatments with Lactic Acid or AHA's).  This would be a far better alternative than wasting your hard earned money on a machine that might not work or be inconsistent.  OR, I found that Ultrasonic spatula is pretty awesome!  Again I did BT (Bio therapeutics (at about $300?)) and it gives me the ability to do a deep cleanse on the peel setting and then also to ionize and do desincrustation on the pos and neg settings.  All of this in one small hand held device!  I know there are a ton of brands out there that people love, too.  This is a great alternative to microderm and offers you the versatility of being able to aid in exfoliation, extractions and product penetration.

i was that ultrasonic....  hmmmm.  it work as well as using high frequecy machines for iontophorsis and desincrustation?

Now that I think about it, look into dermafiles.  They are like a diamond tip micro, but without the suction so they are safe on everyone for the most part.  Shelly Hancock uses and raves about them and would be a great person to speak with.  I want to say the whole set is a few hundred bucks and then you don't have the machine taking up the room.  I almost wish I would have done this rather than buy my micro with all the bells and whistles that I don't use!  You definitely do get what you pay for and while my micro does it's job, there are better ones out there.  I think mine was around $800 from Sylvan.

Thanks so much for all the feedback. I was talking to an esthetician friend of mine, she has a friend that is retiring and is selling everything. Looks like I can afford a really nice one after all. I love it when this stuff happens. Yaaay!

Yeahhhh!
