just curious about renting a room in an existing salon.    For those of you doing this have you registered your own business name and gotten your own business tax or city license?   Seems no one has done this in the past they don't even have a category for an esthetician.  Very confusing!!

WOW! I have used similar as an "extra" for other side of room- good to know Cindy!! Thanks~

thank you Cindy! you gave me a great idea. That's what we actually use to keep water hot in my country. We call it "thermos".
question ladies, is having a reseller's permit a must? are there any benefits or disadvantages? if I do get it, does it mean I have have to charge tax to my clients buying products?

If you are retailing products, you have to pay sales tax or you can get in big trouble.  Where I live, they don't call it a reseller's permit (the city permit is called our occupational license; the state one is called the state business license), but whatever they call it, you need to get one if you're selling retail.  Trust me, I have had the experience of getting behind on sales tax, and it's a b*** catching up with all the fees and interest!
