Like most Estheticians I would eventually like to rent my own space and be able to work for myself. My hope is to open a waxing room and later down the road combine it with my makeup artistry and offer both services. Is that a weird combination? Anyways, what kinds of things should I know about renting my own space, mostly meaning hidden costs and supplies that need to be purchased that I wouldn't normally think of. Also, I am wandering what kind of bed set up is best for waxing. The salon I currently work at is an all wax salon, we have pump up beds that we simply cover with butcher paper, no sheets or anything. I've never really been to any other waxing salons before and so am curious about the different set ups. Thank you :)

I work in a small salon. I offer facials, waxing and makeup. As a renter I'm responsible for all my own supplies including product and equipment. My treatment bed is always setup with a blanket first and then a sheet. When I wax, paper is placed over the sheet and a large towel is placed in the center of the bed to prevent paper from sticking to the client when they sweat.

I was thinking of doing the same thing because right now since the salon I work at uses only butcher paper to cover the table, clients sweat and the paper gets torn to bits and gets stuck to their bottoms. Thanks!
