When you are sick, are your clients understanding of having to reschedule appointments?  I just had to have a fully booked day tomorrow rescheduled, due to sinus infection and coughing.  I refuse to work while I'm coughing, and unable to breathe properly.  Most of the people simply moved to a brand new esty our spa just hired, and 1 moved to a different day with me.  I would hate to lose clients due to this, and would hope they would appreciate not having someone sick working on them.  But I also worry that they will feel slighted and won't reschedule with me next time.  2 that are booked with the new girl tomorrow are regulars of mine.  Thanks for the feedback.

I rarely get sick (now, headaches, on the other hand, that's something I get lots of), but actual sickness, hardly ever.

That said, once last year I was sick enough to reschedule (coughing, stuffy, dizzy, dayquil making me loopy kind of sick).  I had 4 clients that day and I felt so bad to have to call them, last minute and cancel!

They were all more than OK with it and wished me get wells.  At the time, my appointment schedule was BOOKED- nowhere for me to fit them in!  So, I rebooked them on days off within the next week or so and they were all grateful and very nice about it.

If you're sick, you're sick.  I think most people appreciate not having their esty sniffling over their face ;)

Thanks.  I hope they all feel that way.  I would hate to get someone sick, and legally shouldn't be doing treatments when sick.  I just know how people look forward to their 'me' time and having it taken away last minute can be rough.  Or having to go to someone different, which in the case of 4 of my 6 from tomorrow, are doing just  that.

That stinks Jodi but I am sure they wouldn't want you to work on them.  I had to reschedule a few of mine and i still have a slight cough but I have been wearing a mask and eating lots of peppermint.  Since it is just me I was able to reschedule them all.   I felt badly too but they all seemed to understand.

Get better! :)

The spa called them, as I was home, and we aren't supposed to call clients from our cell phones.  Good advice, thanks!  I will see what happens after tomorrow, if they reschedule with me or her.  Only 2 of the 4 she has are regs of mine, and I know the one has told me numerous times that I give her the best facial massage she's ever had.  Thanks everyone.  I felt really guilty having to do that, but I can't imagine working on people with this cough.

Bummer...Clients should appreciate the fact that you did cancel, but some just want what they want, when they want it! I lost a couple occasional clients when I canceled for a death in the family-out of state, I referred to the other gal as they couldn't wait and they stayed with her, the others I gave extra time to for the late cancel. We must take care of ourselves first.
