Hello Everyone!
First off I want to thank you all for being so warm and inviting! Still getting used to this forum but enjoying it!
I actually was hoping to get a little advice since I'm a little (admittedly) clueless when it comes to setting up a proposal to my employer. My boss would like me to set up an idea/proposal for myself to start as an Independent Contractor with Esthetic Services and I'm not sure what's fair or how to write it out. I'm still newly licensed so I'm not expecting to ask for much on the split since my employer is providing the products but I also don't want to sell myself short either. I'm passionate and good at what I do just need to work into the groove of new products and such.
Any suggestions or know of any good sites that give a layout or an idea of a plan on how to approach this?
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I appreciate any advice or help I get!

I hired an Esty right out of school. I give her 40% of treatments and 20% of product sales. I supply everything including advertising. As we go along there will be incentives to raise that 40%. There is a lot of overhead to keeping a nice successful Center open. It needs to be fair for both the owner and the esty.
I think 40% right out of school is very fair. I am spending time training her on my advanced treatments that she didn't learn in school. I've been a skin care center owner for almost 25 years, so coming from the owners point of view...we don't like to hear that an esty plans on starting her own business and taking the clients with her after we've spent our time and energy training and getting the ball rolling for her.
When working for someone else I was @ 47% on services and 20% of product sales. Best wishes :)
My employer provides all the products and equipment and pays 40-45% to start. We can earn more by selling products & more services to reach higher tiers which are higher percentages. We can also earn paid days off by selling products, which to me is better than the normal 10% commission on products I have earned in the past. (if you sell $200 worth of products, it's only $20). I'd rather earn the day off. Not sure if any of the helps or not, I'm not an independent contractor, I'm an employee, but it gives you an idea of what others are doing. Good luck!
thank you everyone! been very helpful :)
I didn't even think to add in a percent for products sold, really gave me a good idea for things :)
