Hello everyone, I am new to the site and was hoping to get your opinions on skin care lines. I graduated from Esthetics school last August and have only worked at one spa since. We use Environ and Avene, as such this is all I know. I amleaving said spa and planning on working at a new place thats about to open and I have my pick of what line I would like to use. Suggestons PLEASE?!

This is a pretty big question but I'll try to help with an opinion or two.

There are a few things to consider and and the most important I feel are does the line match your selling environment?  Meaning do you have a large retail store front to sell from.  If you do then a very retail looking line would be important.  If not then more medical and less packaged might be the way to go. Try to make sure your line and packaging match the style and belief of the salon.

Also, how big are peels within the salon.  Is the salon fluffy feel good or hard core results driven?  There is a difference and finding the middle ground with one line might be difficult.

How many skin care pros might be hired at a later date because they as well will have a line they use so that is something to consider.  A line that goes with most lines is something to consider. Even though mfgr say lines cannot be mixed, they can! The important thing is to count the number of ingredients on the deck and look for the least amount because that allows combinations to be more successful with as little skin irritation as possible.  Its not always the active ingredient that you need to look for but the number of ingredients in regimen that is applied (i.e. 3 am products with a total of 200 vs 400 ingredients)

My last thought might be to remember that a good line should have nice packaging, not over done, with a solid background in skin care science and not so much retail priority, but just the right balance.

I make a lot of my money selling my skin care line to my clients and that repeat business drives more treatments and more retail sales. I am results driven vs fluffy feel good so fancy does not appeal to me.

I know I did not give you a single name but again I feel that is why you did not get too many replies to your post.  Its a really hard question to answer. Dont forget skin care shows... That is where you can see and talk to a lot of mfgr and get details. I hope this helps.

Sorry. I missed the date on your post.  I was too quick on the draw... :))

My apologies.

You were not too quick Tammy, that was a great response and I really appreciate it! The spa hasn't opened yet and there is one other Esthetics room in the facility. I am a results girl myself, packaging is important but explaining ingredients is usually how I make my sales as far as retail goes. I would like to have a line for anti aging and for acne. I really enjoy giving peels, chemical and enzyme, but as you said, lines can be combined. What I'm wondering now is, is there some sort of system that I can try out different lines and see how I like them before I commit? Any feed back is much appreciated!!

Hi Emily, there have been a lot of posts on this subject. If you do a general "search" you should find even more helpful information.

good luck!

I would look for companies that offer a lot of education and if possible, for free...no min order, low shipping cost, support, etc!!  I have used Glotherapeutics to start and while I like the line, the cs is awful and the shipping is outrageous, at least 20 plus.  Same goes for Image.  I have incorporated some skin scripts in my treatment room.  if you like enzymes, this try these out.  The nice thing is your can order sample retail and sample backbar kits and shipping is $5.  There are a lot of skin script users on here and htere is a group...check them out.  Check out local shows as well if there are any...they are a nice place to get info on lines too.  Good luck and let us know what you choose.

Thank you so much everyone! Will keep you posted!
