I am a newly licensed esthetician and I am going to be self-employed renting a room at a salon starting in the fall. I would like to get some input/advice from seasoned estheticians about a skincare line to use in treatment room and possibly retail. I have a couple of different ones in mind but would greatly appreciate any information/input. I would prefer a cosmeceutical line.
Adriane, I'm curious why you say 'they don't force you to carry their entire line or exclusively their line' after saying 'better than Dermalogica'? Just for the record, we carry 2 lines, one of them being Dermalogica, and we don't carry every product they make. Just wanted to set that straight on Dermalogica.
There are a lot of great options out there, one thing to look for is truly professional protocols. That means that you have designated backbar products that the client cannot use at home with a well designed protocol that was worked out by their education team. Of course cost per service is really important on your own, I do not like to go above 10% of my service price.
I like private label if it is done well and has consistent batches. It does not give you brand recognition though.
Everyone here has really good ideas on product manufacturers.
