Hello everyone! I hope the new year has been great for everyone.

I am wondering if any of you have ideas for advertising? I own a small waxing studio and my husband seems to think I don't advertise enough. What are some of the things that all of you do to advertise? Does anyone advertise in the local paper? Advertising can be expensive so I want to make sure I am getting the biggest bang for my buck!

Thank you for your advice in advance. I look forward to making 2014 more amazing and I wish the same for you in all of your businesses.

Honestly word of mouth is the best.  Paper adv you need to have lots of $...although I did just run in a highschool newslwtter that goes out 4 times a year.  Figured I would try it out.  I just like pairing up with people that I can refer business too, look at your local neighboring businesses, offer complimentary little brow or lip waxes, etc.

Hi Sheila! I am looking into all sorts of things. Trying to make sure I don't miss any advertising opportunities! Let mek now how the advertising with the H.S paper goes. :)

I have three parts to my business, an eyelash extension salon with 2 employees, an eyelash extension training and certification academy and I manufacture eyelash extension products, so I think advertising is key to success. For a salon based business here are my tips.
Yelp page is key
Getting your website to the top of the google search page, having a website is key for today's consumer. SEO tips are easy to find through a google search, although doing these steps I am liisting will help with that.
Facebook page
Instagram page, I think it is the best marketing tool available, I get more business through Instagram than any other social media site
Twitter
Google ads are fantastic

The key is to post daily, follow others in your line of business and see what works for them, but please do not mix your personal and business posts. It confuses your clients, they want to know they are going to a professional based business.

Hope that helps,
Michelle

These are crazy but contact your local library and offer free classes, go to a mom's group, work with a hair only salon, girl scouts. I also send out a newsletter 4 times a year, have very special offers every month, and do lots of donations. Every freebie is advertisement so use that as marketing.

Write down who your perfect client is and go where she goes. For example, I have 3 women who I give free facials to. One is an athletic trainer that teaches zumba. One is a high school cheerleader,  And the other is a very active member of a large church. I am currently looking for a real estate agent.

What a great idea Amy! Have you gotten a lot of referrals using this method? Thanks, Lori

Tons. It was worth more than any advertising.

Oh! I ALSO joined in with a local homelessness group and did blankets for bikinis!!!

Amy...These are great ideas... I am going to try and implement some of them in Feb!

I would recommend printing out a year calendar and writing down what your promotion or event is going to be every two months. This helped me to see the BIG PICTURE.

Love it Amy!!

lol Thanks!
