I am a sole practitioner and I may need to get some software for booking and such. Anyone with good info on which ones are good but inexpensive. I have employees. Just me and my shadow. :-)

That should read, "I have no employees."
I use Genbook for my scheduling software. I really like it and it is reasonable plus you can put a scheduling button into your website if you have one, on a Facebook Fan Page, and into craigslist ads. There is also an app for your smart phone so you have your software with you at all times if you need to make an appointment for someone.

If you're an ASCP member you get a big discount on Full Slate's online scheduling system, which is a very full-featured suite for online scheduling. I've also heard excellent things about their customer service from our members, and there's a free trial period, so you might want to check them out! To get your ASCP member discount, login at www.ascpskincare.com and look for the Exclusive Member Discounts section.
I have just started using Vagaro, and like it so far. It is inexpensive, they have great customer service, it is very full-featured, and the mobile apps are great. I looked at Appointment-Plus, SpaBoker and MindBody, but they were much more expensive.
I have been using Schedule City and am pretty happy with it.
