Hi everyone- is there anyone on here from Ohio?
Based on a posted guideline, I am taking it that the state of Ohio does not allow any cosmetic resurfacing product to be less than a pH of 3.0.
So, I though Skin Scripts was out for me (which infuriates me).
However- I just noticed that Bioelements' AHA peels are 2.0-3.0 and 2.25-3.25 pH- which fall below 3.0, and I know a LOT of salons in OH use Bioelements.
So what is it?!?!?!?
I can try State Board tomorrow, but I thought I'd see if anyone out there knew.
Thanks. :-/

I suggest you do check with your state board. No matter what everyone else is doing you are only responsible for your own actions and choices. Do your homework and research. That is another thing that will help you to grow in this industry and you wont worry about looking over your shoulder to see who is watching you a=or open yourself up to possible legal discipline or malpractice. Once you make the choice you can rest assured you are giving your clients the best possible experience with a wonderful outcome for both of you! Happy Hunting!

Thank you. Yes, I fully intend to be 100% compliant, as I do not want ANYTHING biting me in the butt.... it's just very frustrating to be in a state that is so limiting. They've basically got us estheticians doing relaxation facials. haha! not very results oriented. but it's ok. I will make the best of what we are allowed to do- and not jump on every bandwagon- that is VERY good advice.
I am in conversation with State Board on their facebook page now getting confirmation on what is allowed. no pH below 3.0 regardless of percentage. I'm now waiting to hear back about enzymes....
I'm just so bummed about Skin Scripts b/c I love the products. I'll definitely still use them on ME!! haha
Good attitude Gina! You should still be able to use their Coconut Enzyme (no acids), and if you can use Galvanic/HF/Vac-Spray, develop a super facial treatment with what you CAN use! How about something like:
Cleanse to remove dirt/debris/makeup
Cleanse according to skin (perhaps a mild glycolic/lactic cleanser)
apply enzyme according to manufacturers directions
Remove enzyme with skin scrubber/spatula
Remove residue with warm, moist towel
If extractions are not super easy...
Apply gauze to face, brush on desincrustation fluid, and do a Galvanic treatment for 4 minutes on the (-) pole.
Watch extractions practically jump from their follicles (just kidding).
Apply antiseptic toner
Apply serum ampoule (water-based) if you want.
Apply gauze, and brush over a water-based gel masque.
Use the Galvanic on the (+) pole for 4 minutes in upward/outward "lifting" movements.
Remove gauze, and wrap with warm moist towel to remove gel masque
Tone again
Apply serum, eye cream, and moisturizer if using.
apply sunscreen
Receive big check
Thank client sincerely, make homecare recs, blah, blah, blah...
So, what have you ACTUALLY done for this client? You've done THREE methods of exfoliation (glycolic wash, enzyme, skin scrubber), you've rid them of blackheads, and with the Galvanic, you've set their skin up to better receive the great serum, and other home care you've sold them. What's not to love about that?
Thanks for that! I don't have $$ for a galvanic (yet)... but I am considering the skin scrubber, which I watched a great demo of using it for extractions AND using it to drive serums deeper... not to mention the peel option...
I did just order the DermaFile- upon recommendation by Lisa w/Skin Scripts- so I have that option, too!
Oh- and I do have a Clarisonic so I can give them a nice, deep cleanse. :-)
:-D Feeling better every minute!!! LOL
Thanks, everybody. I love this forum.
