I am an Esthetician and Makeup Artist with 12 years experience in the business. I've worked all aspects of the industry however am considering going back to school to be an RN so I can work doing injections and more intensive medical side of the business. I have worked with Dr.s before but only as an Esthetician, not as an RN. I love the Day spa side and natural side however it seems like business is going more medical these days.
Just curious....what you you guys think?
Are there Licensed Estheticians that are also RN's that are happy with the development and change?
Are you encouraging me to go through with this?
I'm pretty sure in the state of California I would have to be an RN or above to be doing injections under a Dr.
Just interested in your thoughts and suggestions...THANKS!

If you would be doing it because you LOVE the idea of doing those additional services, and are looking forward to moving back into a doctor's office setting, then go for it!
If you truly, deep down, would rather be in a naturally-focused day spa (as you mentioned you love), then I would focus on that, find a flexible spa, and see how you can adapt natural treatments to clinical, results-oriented outcomes. A management role or lead esthetician at a large day spa might be perfect for where you are in your career. In a position like that, you could begin to host nights where a doctor or an RN would take injectables appointments at the spa.
If your heart is calling you to be a nurse, then don't waste any more time! If it's purely a concern of money and becoming obsolete, my answer is that I don't think that the spa industry is going anywhere, especially when it comes to skincare treatments that focus on promoting the health and beauty of the skin. If you're not realllllly pumped about nursing school, then it's time to get creative in the esthetic field. Good luck!
Oops, just saw that this question was from a long time ago. Hope you went where your heart led you and are finding lots of success there!!
