I spilled an entire tin of strip wax onto a carpeted floor! It was on an open backed shelf and I must have pushed something against it and tipped it. The wax wasn't hot, actually I don't like it very much so haven't used it in several months, it is just a very soft wax. So now it is down the back of the shelf and puddled on the carpet (a big puddle!). I'm not even sure when it happened (probably a week ago). It is the consistancy of thick, runny taffy. Any thoughts on how to clean it up?

Call a carpet REPAIR company before you do anything else.  But my idea: if you froze it with dry ice you might be able to break it off and MAYBE get it to break off the carpet fibers.

Thanks Marty,

I have successfully removed hard wax but the strip wax is a nightmare. I will try the dry ice idea. Getting it hard and cracking it sounds like it would work!

Sorry missed that.  Strip wax. Good luck... :)  Still the same advice or contact the mfgr on what is anti-wax.  Like peanut butter for gum in the hair sort of thing.  Sorry that happened to you.  I cannot imagine.

Spatula, elbow grease and a lot of goo-gone type cleaner to dissolve may help-if carpet repair is out of the question.

Thank you both for the ideas!
