Hello!
Anyone out there using Square with their iPhone to process their payments? My only complaint with this is the tip suggestion boxes (No Tip, 10%, 15%, 20%) are very small underneath the signature line. Clients sign with their finger and then press the continue button (because it is highlighted in green), which then equals no tip. Not that anyone HAS to tip but it's clear they are not seeing the tipping options. Until I can purchase an iPad (which of course has a much bigger screen), I need to figure out how to politely mention that option into my close.
Any suggestions? Thank you!

Donna, I would just simply say, "If you were happy with your service and would like to add a gratuity, it is located under the signature line." If you don't sound uncomfortable saying it, they will not feel uncomfortable doing it. Maybe turn away after you show them how to pay. Give them a minute or two to finish the transaction and say thanks. It has to be done in a natural way from you, so that they feel comfortable. It is strange at first, but after a while it is just as easy as doing a skin treatment!
I agree! Well said John : )
John,
Thanks so much for your advice. It is very much appreciated!

Hi Sheila,
Yes, I do love the convenience of it and yes, it's definitely a conversation piece. And another yes, I do have trouble swiping the card, takes me a few times.
You know how when you use your debit card at the grocery store and a completely different screen asks if you want cash back? We need that for the tip screen.....
Thanks for writing!
Donna
Maybe in the meantime you could have a sign where they check out like tipping is not expected but greatly appreciated, if you would like to leave a tip please see the bottom of the signature screen.
