OK here is my question. when i do a Brazilian wax,sometimes, the wax goes on and pulls off so easily! other times, it seems to adhere to the skin and it takes a gigantic effort to get it off and it is so much harder on the poor client. I do the same thing for every service. I apply some oil, wipe the excess off, apply the wax, (Lycon soberry har
Some questions and some thoughts for you:
1. Is this happening all over or just in the labia area?
2. What is the texture of the hair, fine, thick, course, or ALL
3. What is the condition of the client's skin?
If it is happening in the labia area only, there are a couple of possibilities.
1. This area tends to be the warmest body part and sometimes the wax takes a bit longer to set up. The hair tends to be a bit more dense in this area and bit thicker. When you have a warm area and dense, thick hair it can take a good strong pull to get it out. If you are trying to take all of the labia hair in one pull from bottom to top, I would suggest taking it in two pulls or maybe even three depending on the denseness/thickness.
2. If the client's skin is excessively dry this can cause the wax to stick (yes even hard wax). Before you wax always check the condition of the skin and if you note it to be dry/ashy/flakey , send our client home with home care to balance and hydrate the skin before you wax.
3. Depending on the wax, sometimes oil can tend to make it more goopy and sticky. You really only need like two drops of oil.
Hope this was helpful
thank you Crickett! yes it was helpful. could the wax be too warm or too cool, affecting it? Yes, it is only on the labia. i will apply your suggestions.
Keeping wax at a set temp is hard to do. Then when you throw in the variable of your client's temperature, it can get sticky. Typically if hard wax is too cool, you won't be able to spread it, so I wouldn't think that would be the problem. It's more likely the client's temp in that area and what is going onto the skin.
Glad you are ok. As for preventing the likely hood of this happening in the future, I would suggest when training, have a specified model other than yourself so that you can watch the student and their technique in order to correct them.
This could happen for several reasons or a combination of reasons;
1. she did not hold the skin taught upon removal
2. she lifted up when removing the wax instead of remaining parallel to the skin
3. the skin in that area could be excessively dry
Hope this helps.
:) You're welcome. Happy training:)
