Hi All!

I am an esthetician in California and I am putting together a study group for NCEA certification.

NCEA Certified is the professional status awarded to a skin care professional that has met the competency standards as set-forth by NCEA's 1200 Hour Esthetician Job Task Analysis. It represents the highest skin care credential available in the United States and adherence to the code of ethics of the profession.

Anyway, if there is any one that wants to join us so that they can get on the MASTER ESTHETICIAN band wagon, let me know.  :) It will be a study group not a class so we will all be in this together!

I would be interested in more information :) Thanks

Hi Melanie,

We just ordered our training manual from the NCEA website. Once we all get the manual we are going to all find a time to meet so that we can go through the manual. Once we go through the manual, we should all be ready to take the test. I am not sure how much time it will take but once I get the manual, I will be able to work out a plan.

Check out the web page

We hope you would like to work with us towards this prestigous accreditation! It would be great to meet and have you be a part of our group.

How far along are you in the study group? May I join?

Hi Jennifer,

We have not started yet because we are waiting for everyone to get the training manual. The manual is a step by step guide to getting the master certification. Anyway, what days work best for you? There is 6 people in our group so far. I think we can get through the book with 4- one day study sessions. You can go to the NCEA website to see about the manual. Let me know... we would love to have you in the group.

Should have training maual tomorrow
Wooohooo....got my NCEA Training Manual!

YAY!!! There is now 9 of us so far but only 4 of us have the manual. Hopefully by next week everyone will have it. What days work best for you?

I'm currently on injury leave so my schedule is open...so let me know what works best for you. I'm going to get a notarized copy of my license today...get done what I can so I'm not getting a bunch of stuff notarized at once...it adds up.

Is any esthetician eligible? I am interested but live in Indiana--are the guidelines different? Are there classes to take or do I just study the manual and then sign up to take the test? I apologize for my silly questions but I'm very interested!

Hi Megan,

I wish we could skype you in! There are some people that teach a prep class but there is not that many of them. There is certain criteria for the esthetician to get certified like....

1. Candidate must meet a, b, c or d:
    a) Current ESTHETICIAN LICENSE (notarized copy) with
Employer Affidavit of Employment* (one (1) year full-time skin care experience)
Candidate Affidavit of Post-Graduate Education Completion (equivalent 50 hours)

OR    Current ESTHETICIAN LICENSE (notarized copy) with
Employer Affidavit of Employment* (two (2) years full-time skin care experience)

OR     Current MASTER ESTHETICIAN LICENSE (notarized copy)

OR     Current ESTHETICIAN LICENSE (notarized copy) with
School Affidavit of Under-Graduate Esthetician Education Completion
                            (equivalent 1200 hours)

    b) Current COSMETOLOGY LICENSE (notarized copy) with
Employer Affidavit of Employment(two (2) years full-time skin care experience)
Candidate Affidavit of Post-Graduate Education Completion (equivalent 100 hours)

OR    Current COSMETOLOGY LICENSE (notarized copy) with
Employer Affidavit of Employment* (three (3) years full-time skin care experience)

    c) LICENSED PROFESSIONAL (notarized copy) with
Employer Affidavit of Employment* (two (2) years full-time skin care experience)
Note: Where skin care is within scope of practice.

    d) OTHER PROFESSIONAL with
               Employer Recommendation

I talked to Susan Warfield (president of NCEA) and she said that you can get a letter from your employer or if you work for yourself, you can get someone in the industry (like a teacheer) to siign for you. I am totally excited about doing this. I think it is important and we will be ahead of the curve because this will soon be a requirement. Do you go to any of the trade shows?

Thanks for the info! I didn't realize this was just a local group--good luck to you all! I will be looking into this for myself as well!

Hi Megan, I forgot to tell you that there are free classes on the NCEA website that help you prepare for the Master esthetician test.
