Hi All!

I am an esthetician in California and I am putting together a study group for NCEA certification.

NCEA Certified is the professional status awarded to a skin care professional that has met the competency standards as set-forth by NCEA's 1200 Hour Esthetician Job Task Analysis. It represents the highest skin care credential available in the United States and adherence to the code of ethics of the profession.

Anyway, if there is any one that wants to join us so that they can get on the MASTER ESTHETICIAN band wagon, let me know.  :) It will be a study group not a class so we will all be in this together!

I can pick you up on the way to the conference.

Kudos to all of you I am already NCEA certified and have my Master License in DC.  I have worked very closely with individuals in my area to help them successfully prepare for the NCEA certification process.  Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you in your studying.  This is one endeavor that you will be very proud of once you have completed it!

Thanks Regina. We will need all the help we can get! and KUDOS to you for getting your NCEA certification! I wish you were in our area  to give a prep class!

I will help you in anyway that I can so please do not let distance interfere with me helping your group.  We will figure something out.  One of the most important things for us to do in this industry is to use the resources we have available to us.  Please use me as a resource. One of my primary goals is to help other estheticians achieve NCEA certification so please continue to reach out!

Thanks Regina!

Did you go to a prep class or study on your own? Do you have any ideas for how we go through the book as a group? It seems pretty basic and clear... I just want to make sure everyone in the group is on the same page and that we are all prepared to take and pass the test.

I actually studied on my own but honestly I would not suggest that.   Here is how I would devise the study group:  Gather some supporting resources to support each of the sections from the training manual.  Don't over shoot here.... Think old copies of SKIN INC, Milady's Advanced Esthetics Book, Mark Lees Advanced Book, and maybe a book that details product ingredients.  Next go through each section reviewing the materials.  Anything that you don't know or do not have expanded knowledge on, pick up one of those additional resources and scan them for answers and increased breadth of knowledge.  This test asks quality  questions about our work as skin care professionals it does not just scratch the surface.  Take it seriously and follow these suggestions and you will do well.  I am one of the contributors for the most updated training manual and can assure you the test is not designed to make you fail so study hard and you will be successful!

Wow! Thanks for the suggestions. I am quite familiar with all of those resources. I will definetly check it out.

Thanks!

Jen

Thank you Regina!

Well it looks like there are a few of us READY TO GO for this NCEA certification. For those who do not know, this association is also the one who produces the NETT news.

Anyway, Rosemarie Hunter gave me the following information * so that we can work as a study group through video conferencing. If you have not ordered your training manual, you should do it ASAP so that we can all start at the same time. http://www.nceacertified.tv/

* "So here is what you need https://support.google.com/hangouts/answer/3115553?hl=en

Each participant will need a google email account to participate, the directions are pretty simple and will allow up to 15 people in the video conference. I am available to help anyway I can if you have questions. I use this service when traveling and it works great! I would stipulate that a strong internet signal is required and that everyone have a quite room without background noise (ie., crying babies, traffic, televisions, neglected spouses) which can greatly hamper the overall effectiveness of the communication necessary. I worked as a federal information officer for five years and can't tell you how many times everyone on a conference call was made to suffer those who didn't know how to mute or work in a quiet room.

So good luck and keep me posted here in the country ;-) btw, I am looking to relocate if anyone is privy to a quality business looking for a great esty with a passion, please let me know!"

Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in participating in the study group. Also, please give me a couple of options of times that you would be available.

Jen
