Hello,

I got a call from a new client today asking for a facial appt.. She has Tinea Versicolor and is on proper medications from her dr. right now.. She got a chemical peel from another place 8 months ago and liked the results.. I read that her condition isn't contagious but still not sure how and if I should take her as a new client. Does anyone have a client with this? What treatments can we as estheticians do to improve her skin?

Go ahead and see her.  There is no contageous risk, nor will anything you can do spread it further around her body.  The patches of Tinea don't itch or feel irritated, so there's really not much to do for those spots except let the antifungals work their magic.  In the mean time, it sounds like the client is focused on some rejuvenating face treatments, so go ahead and provide those.  I would say to occlude any tinea within your treatment area at least during the first peel you do with her, as a general precaution.  The only case in which I would refuse treatment until a doctor had provided consent would be if her entire face was covered with tinea.  It seems more common on the body, so I doubt this is the case.
