Found this on my newsfeed, BioElements did a poll and here is what came up! I figured we could all learn from this!

18. Background noise: slamming doors, cabinets, and outside noise like car horns, etc.
17. Too much pressure, or not enough pressure
16. Towels with fabric softener
15. Selling product during the facial
14. Painful extractions
13. Skin care professionals chewing gum
12. Product left behind on the jaw or hairline
11. A choppy massage that doesn’t flow from one motion to the next
10. Estheticians who smell like cigarettes
9. Strong perfume
8. Estheticians with stinky hands
7. Sloppy application of product
6. When the product is too cold
5. Estheticians with long, rough, or hangnails
4. Movements too close to the ears – example: wiping product on the towel right next to the ears.

2. No warning before touching the face
1. “My pet peeve is… I hate it when the facial is finished!”
Skin care professionals: Are you guilty of any of these facial faux pas? Take note for your next treatment so both you and your client can have the best experience possible.

Well, I've tried numerous things and I have a tendency to dislike cold things. I even find the brush with a mask on it too cold and it drives me nuts. I can barely tolerate the coolness of the toner. lol The girls at school used to make fun of me for it. I always use warm stuff and my hands are always HOT. At the end I will say softly, this will be a bit cool because you can't say "This will freeze your face off now"
The only ones that really bother me are 20, 19, 18, 14 & 11. When I add a cold product to the face, (which I personally LOVE), I try not to speak if I've been quiet up until then (it's usually the mask for me), I try to just touch the tip of the brush to their forehead gently introducing the product, then just slowly spread it. I rarely have anyone jump, or even notice.
I would add to this one - insufficient overlap of wiping on my upper lip. I spent most of my teens and early 20's with zits right smack in the middle of my philtrum groove (google it), so I still feel weird if an esthetician does not sufficiently wipe off products in that spot. It is extra reassuring when they wipe toner with both hands and overlap that spot a few times. But if they just kind of graze over it, or worse, miss it when they are wiping each side, I freak out about getting a pimple there. Weird! I know! Fortunately I tell this to everyone who works on me, so they can stress about not only giving a facial to an esthetician and spa owner, but also about some wacky toner preferences.
Love it! I normally do not tell people what I do when I go somewhere to get a facial. I have a groupon for a spa about 25 mins away from me that I'm using next month, and I don't plan to tell her what I do. I like to just see what they do, see what I can learn from them, without them knowing they may be teaching me something.
I agree. I never tell them I am in the biz for the same reasons. Also, I don't want to "talk shop" and just want to take it all in and see what they do. It also helps to remind me that I really give my all in a service if I am not getting it from another professional.
One of the massage therapists I work with told me when she hears the products opening and mixing, etc, she feels like a magician is working magic potions on her face to make her look younger. I thought that was great. She said she loves that feeling.
Number five bothers me too. I always wonder what's lurking under those nails. I tried to let my nails grow for my wedding but it grossed me out when I was working on a client that I just couldn't do it.
I'm probably guilty of the leaving product on the face a time or two. and I am also guilty of number 3 when I feel fat and I try not to do extractions because I had a client complain of how painful they were. It totatlly freaked me out. I almost got fired over it so I learned a good disencrustation technique and a good mask help take care of this!
I'm sooo self-conscious of what I eat or cook because of number 8. I had an otherwise excellent massage recently from a woman who I swear had been eating hummus right before my appointment, and it made me stress out wondering if she was stressing out over it haha.
Haha! Me too!!! I also brush, floss, and mouthwash.
