Does anyone have an effective protocol for removing milia under the eyes? Do you extract in that area? I'm concerned about bruising. How close to the eye can I apply an enzyme or acid? What about using the ultrasonic spatula or micro? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I personally avoid milia under the eyes because the only real way to really extract milia is with a lancet and they are prohibited in my state (PA). You also run the risk of scarring the delicate skin around the eye or worse, poking the eye itself. For those clients who are concerned about this, I would refer them to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon who is medically equipped (and insured) just in case something goes wrong and explain why you are avoiding the extractions there. Other esthies may disagree with me and I welcome their thoughts, too! The only other thing you might try is using an under eye cream with Vit A and other exfoliants and overtime they may dissolve? This one, however, I am not positive about.
Thank you for replying Jennifer! I'm checking into an eye cream from Rhonda Allison and a serum from Skin Scripts. I've also been told I can use the ultrasonic spatula fairly close to the eye so I'm going to try that as well.
Thank you for the tip on the spatula! I'll let you know if I come across any creams that would help since I too have this issue!
Glymed Plus has an Eye & Lip Renewal Complex with a combination of 9% AHA - it works great to exfoliate this delicate area and reduce milia. Also awesome for those feather lines around vermillion!
I extract my own, but would never extract milia on eye area of a client. It is just to painful, and such a tender-delicate area. There are treatments for the under eye area, and under eye peels that may work. But I think its probably best to refer them to a dermatologist if it really bugs them. Dont risk their skin or thd liability...
Lara could you give me more information on the blueberry enzyme protocol? I just ordered the samples from Skin Script. Do they go away without any extractions? How many treatments and how long does it take? Thanks so much!
This is really helpful! Thank you, Lara!
Dermatologist, especially if you are not licensed in your state to use a lancet or are not experienced in using one (if you are permitted to use one)
