Do you have a particular "uniform" that you wear when you are working with clients?  Ot doesn't matter if you are on your own or working for a spa, I am curious.  I know a lot of people wear lab coats or aprons to look more professional, but just doesn't seem comfortable.

Sometimes I wear scrubs, I got these really comfy one from Uniform City, the Wonder Wink 4 stretch....AWESOME., but then sometimes I wear black pants, sometimes yoga pants with a black rhinestone top with my logo, but Ia m sick of that.  I just recently got these really cute rauched workout Martika Tek shirts and although they are for working out, I just put my name tag on and they actually look really cute.

So I am just curious, what does everyone else wear?  I would like to find a nice collared sports material type shirt (something breathable) and maybe get it embriodered.  I know they have Esthetician or Spa professional type clothes but I can't see spending that kind of money for a pair of pants.

Thanks!!

We wear scrub tops that she had embroidered with the name of the spa, and then just whatever pants we want (no jeans obviously).  I wear comfortable black pants and boots in the fall and winter, and capris and sandals in the summer.

Hi Sheila. I wear black scrubs. Even though I have to run a lint roller over them at times, it tend to do better then having on white or lighter colors. I try and wear them all the time. If I choose not to then I will put on a pair of black yoga pants and black top. Or if I'm feeling really lazy, I will put on my smock that I bought from Sallys. I guess it depends on the mood I'm in that morning.

good to know...sometimes I wonder if I am under dressed or something...but looks like I am right in line with you ladies.

Thanks for the feedback!!

by the way, are you still in Tampa?  I am sorry we never got together!!

Yes mam I'm still here.  It's okay I know with the holidays, bringing in the new year and trying to get things leveled out everyone have been busy. And I think as long as we are neatly dressed the client wouldn't mind. I know there are some self employed individuals that wear special made tshirt advertising their company everyday.

I wear a scrub top (different colors for variety and my sanity :) ) and black leggings with running shoes. I like it that Estheticians wear some sort of "uniform". I feel like it goes with our profession and it sets us apart from the other people in the salon (if you work in one...and I do). The other Esthetician in my salon always wears heels and I don't understand that. Seems a bit fancy and out of place (plus LOUD on our wood floor hallway).

Be neat, polished and professional and that goes a long way.

Ugh - I KNOW!

Who would wear heels in a spa?

So noisy.

I used to work UNDER a hair salon and it drove me crazy hearing the sylists clunking around on their 3-inch heels. (plus it is so bad for your feet and your posture)

A lab coat it neat and clean and offers a level of professionalism that will set you apart from others :)

I feel too restricted in a lab coat.  And I kept running over it when I would scoot around on the stool.

It's nice to hear what others wear!

Because I am an LMT also, I find wearing a lab coat or esthetician top/jacket uncomfortable.

And I never really thought that aprons looked real professional. Of course I do have one apron that says "I can wax that" in rhinestones that I would totally wear If I did more waxing!

I always wear black pants - my two favorites are Dockers Metro pant and Land's End Starfish pant, both look great but the Land's End pant is more like a yoga pant so is more comfortable.

I like to wear patterned short sleeved tops - but they are so hard to find.  I don't like cap sleeves because they do not cover an armband tattoo I have, and they always look like little girl tops to me. My last purchase was a 3/4 length sleeve that I cut and hemmed. So I am left with buying mostly scrub tops - Cherokee Flexibles are the nicest looking I think - they don't make me look totally shapeless and are not so loose that you get an eyeful when I bend over. I have worn polo tops in the past and although I like that they have collars, I don't like the overall look - just too casual for my taste.

this is all Great info!  Thanks everyone!

I usually wear some sort of athletic shoe or I do have these great sketcher air walk shoes (i think thats what they are called).  They are really comfy and they come in every color imaginable.

Obviously I never wear anything with cleavage hanging out but I have seen people that do and I won't wear jeans, although have seen people as well.

Professionalism is imp but I also think our comfort is imp.  If we are constricted and not comfy, I feel like that will come across in service.

I like to go to work wearing my black yoga pants, shirt that has sleeves that do not go past my elbows and I can roll them up easily if needed slap on some comfy flats with great support (although I find I kick off my shows during treatments) and toss on my black apron v-neck style that goes just above my knees. Wrap my hair in a scrunchy and make sure the make up is solid and I'm ready to go!
