I love this forum, everyone is so helpful!

How do you handle adding a lip, chin or brow wax to a facial?   Before the tx, after, during?

In school, I felt like it was emphasized to NOT wax during facials, or even the same day, as it is too much exfoliation and could cause lifting/pigment issues.  I think this might have just been a school policy, though, because I notice it seems everyone is adding the waxing right into the treatment.  It makes no sense to have a client come back for a minor facial wax, so it must have been just my school being cautious.

So, is it OK?  what about for peels, light and moderate?

Thanks!

I do wax before a facial...but not before a peel or microdermabraion.

I don't see at so much as "over-exfoliation" unless you are using strip wax - but more as too much trauma to the area. Which can also lead to lifting, hyperpigmentation, and unwanted reactions.

You have to know your client's skin. So yes, it's better to be cautious when you don't.

If they are a regular client then you just explain why you can't combine certain procedures in the same visit.

I also wax before a facial, and I ask them if they want a waxing as I'm going over there consultation with the mag lamp on their face, kinda like "while your here would you care for a lip or eye brow wax?" then I go from there...

As a client I've been upsold on a lip or brow wax during a facial and never had problems with it, but I would definitely want it before/during, not after, just for relaxation reasons. Going straight from aaaaaah nice facial to YOW, WAXING isn't the most enjoyable way of arranging things.
